hen you take an engine/harness out of a 2002 ODBII car like mine, does the engine put in have to be an 2002 OBII or newer to be kept legal. Or can I just use an OBDII engine/harness from any year that uses OBDII.
Also if you use a Standalone EMS do you loose the ability to use OBDII. Like plugging in the code reader to see if there are any codes? Effectively loosing its legality

you can put any setup you like in there, however i believe it is illegal to remove/alter any emissions device on and 96 and newer obdII vehicle. I dunno about pa but when i was an inspector in NY instan fail if the cat was missing/altered.

Basically the reason I'm asking is cause I'm trying to get my KL project underway. And if I can use any Manual V6 car from 97-up (mx6/626/probe) to use a donor car I will. If not I'll have to find a 02 manual 626. which is rare and will be expensive.

Something Else I found
http://www.dmv.org/pa-pennsylvania/custom-built-cars.php#Registration_and_Titling_Requirements_for _a_Street_Rod
So what I'm readin from this page is that I would simply have to register my car as a modified car. Am I missing the "fine print". It doesn't seem all that difficult to do.
