So i cratered my lsd and various internal transmission parts for the 3rd time beginning of this year and since then ive been looking for a FINAL solution to the problem of weak transmissions on the speeds. Well after some searching and studying, i think i may have found it. What were looking at is a high quality helical synchro gearset built by a known transmission builder of dsm fame. Ive gotten the intial quote at just around $6000 if we can get ten people to buy into this. I havent gottena reply yet but a cheaper price may be available with more buyers. Im hashing out the exact details on it right now but from what we know right now would there be anyone interested? Im going to buy the first one for my car and combine the built trans with the welded msp lsd and see what the limits are on it to the best of my ability. Now for the history of my transmission success/failure my last lsd/trans lasted about 32k miles with it being drag raced ALOT in that 32k launching it at 550rpms and pulling consistent 2.1 60's on street tires. I stomped on it one night leaving starbucks and got major wheel hop and let out. When i got back into it there was a loud pop and no further movement of the car. I was running GM synchromesh trans fluid at the time and thats what i will continue to run unles the trans builder suggests otherwise.

not to rain on your look-out solution but just using PAR's gears it comes around to 3.5k$$$ for full tranny upgrade, or TBK gears are good enough to hold under ~600whp from what its adv.

The main reason ppl are still looking for solution is to achieve it more affordable not more $$$$.

6k $$$ is too much unless your race prep'ing the car.

Hmm i'll look into the details a bit more, maybe a more competitive price can be reached. And for $3500 are you talking doing the labor yourself or having it built?

What exactly are the issues that this dsm builder addressing? What does he consider the weak link of the transmission?

I'm doing myself what ever i can and 3.5k$$ that is the price for gears/parts only as you can't get them to do the labor on individual basis unless you're a racer=($$$$).

Local shops charge 800-1.5k$$ for labor and still come out less then 6k $$ but like FOCUS asked above , is he addressing any modification to the tranny's weak point/section or just replace gearsss with some after-market ones???
