Just got done putting this bad boy in and modifying the recirculation hose to fit.

I was dubious, but this valve does make the car feel much more responsive when on boost. It is also suprisingly audible, even in recirculation with a CAI.

I used the ATP flange and the universal valve (the only way you can get it in black) and let me tell you that it is a beast to get to fit in right. I had to rotate the 'hat' so that the manifold hose didn't come in contact with the hood or pinch the hose. I had to cut and extend the recirculation hose, and I had to cut a small piece off of the intercooler cover to clear the valve. Even with all of that the valve is still just very slightly rubbing the plastic ducting on the underside of the hood.

Looks nice, and I see you extended the recirc hose with the copper exactly like I did. I digg it!

yup! home depot special, it was like $1.39 for the pipe and like $1 each for the couplers. I got the idea from a post on here, it was probably you.

nice! does the stock tmic cover fit over it?

might be getting one of these soon - why did you have to extend the recirc hose, was the stock not long enough?

I know you work for a company, any reason why you didnt go with turbosmart or the turbo xs? I personally dont find the looks of HKS appealing but they have lasted for years with the same design. Surprisingly this looks good in black!

I had to trim the corner of the TMIC cover to make it clear the bpv.

The recirc hose was long enough, I just did it wrong. First I tried to cut it and then cut too much, so I had to extend it. You can actually rotate the tube where it connects to the turbo inlet to the proper position and it should work.

yes and its a PAIN to get on. I wanted to be a pimp and go with the black bpv, but you can only get the black bpv in the universal fitment, so I used the HKS ATP MS3/MS6 flange which works but doesn't position the valve as well as the MS3 specific kit so you have to work harder to make it work. The universal kit also does not come with the recirc flange which I had to get separately, directly from HKS. There were some other odds n' ends I had to extend, cut, and 'make work'.

do u hav to recirculate?
no you don't, the universal kit comes with the VTA fitting which sounds sporty but can cause problems with stalling, smoking, backfiring and running rich between shifts. I have heard not-so-good stories from customers running VTA on the MS3. The recirc fitting is actually still pretty audible with an intake on the car.

No specific reason. I wanted to be 'different' and do the limited edition black before we sold out of them. I was also considering the Greddy Type RS, or the Blitz Dual Drive bpv. A little trick that not many people know-- the Subaru Legacy GT and the MS3/MS6 have almost identical sized bpv flanges, so in most cases anything that has a Legacy GT kit will also work on the MS3.

I know I would only go HKS SSQ in VTA for "THE sound".... but since I also heard bad things about it, I got the 50/50 tsx-h.

hey aaron get the cp-e flange and the valve can be spun all the way around. its a little expensive but it doesnt hit the valve and you can get the valve to stop hitting the shroud. best flange i found i love it. and yes i came from a atp...

Hey Aaron,

Just wondering if you remember the size of the copper pipe that you used to extand the recirc hose.

Thanks,
James

Hmmmmmmmm having the speed as a daily is going to be hard, maybe I'll drive it to Hhome Depot and pop the recirc hose there lol

Thanks

it makes a very unique chatter type blow off sound when recirculated with an open element intake. Sounds really good if you ask me.

Water pipes

I am thinking about buying some wholesale water pipes from this company in China http://www.liangdianup.com/tobacciana_z.htm
but I am not sure if they are legal to bring in to the states? What are the laws on water pipes, bongs, and pipes?
