We just purchased this used car last week. Its an automatic, problem is shifting seems to be an issue sometimes. For instance when I take a left turn from a stop sometimes the car will shift hard into second gear (a clunk noise is herd). This doenst happen always but probably 20% of the time.

Secondly when we stop, and then start moving again when we get into 3rd gear without letting off the gas pedal the tranny doesnt want to shift into 4th-it will rev up to 4250rpms before shifting. If I let off the pedal just a tad it then shifts fine. I dont notice any slippage when its shifting from 3-4 to 5th (if it has a 5th gear).

I did check the tranny fluid and looks when it was hot it was just over the ADD HOT line, I Will add some today, but I am stumped on what else I can look for? All advice is appreciated. I am thinking if its the tranny it might be time for me to dump it since I got it for pretty cheap, hopefully its something small though so I dont.

Wait a minute, if the dipstick shows it's over the full mark when hot, why in the world would you add more fluid? That will only cause transmission damage. Someone like you must have owned this car before you. Sorry if that sounds harsh. I hope you just typed that erroneously.
