Halløj i stuen / Good evening

As the title says. Are parts from the 2.0 FS-DE interchangeable with part from the 1.8 FP-DE and reverse???

Did some searching in old threads but didn't get much wiser, soooo.....

I'm in particular thinking about cams.

Thanks...

Niels.

What parts are you looking to use? The FP is very close to the FS in many ways and shares a large percentage of parts but has its own FP specific block crank, rods, pistons and timing belt.

Cams!
I found "performance" cams for the FS-DE, but not the FP-DE... I've read someone put FS-DE cams in his 1.8, but I'm not buying the cams, just because I read someone did it...
Soe... just whanted to clarify thing before I deside to spend me money....!

And I've found a few exhaust headers that said: "for both 1.8 and 2.0".
...But I'm a bit paranoid.

thanks

Niels.

No one knows for certain???

2.0 cams will physically fit into the 1.8 engine, but the profiles wont be optimum. cams are not going to give you "bolt on" performance any way. you will need a custom ecu tune to utilize them to their fullest. plus, you'll want to do a bunch of other thing fist anyway.

the 2.0 liter header will also physically bolt up to the engine, but you will need to change out the egr tube. the 1.8 has a male fitting and the 2.0 has a female fitting.

no you don't
the exhaust manifolds are the same between both engines on the protege... the only reason why someone said that before was because their threaded pipe came off the manifold and was stuck to the EGR pipe (happens to MSP owners a lot apparently)

makes sense, thanks

So the 2.0 cams make "bolt on" performance on the FS-DE, but not on the 1.8 FP-DE ?!?? I thought they did.
And if they are a bad idea, than what seems as a better idea to you??

Another question. Is the 2.0 throttle body bigger than the 1.8??

the FS-DE throttle bodies are the same size as the FP-DE's, but the euro FS-DE (manual trans) throttle body is a progressive type instead of the linear type the FP-DE's has for improved low speed drivability

So, do you agree that, although the 2.0 cams make "bolt on" performance on the FS-DE, they do NOT on the 1.8 FP-DE then ?!??
I thought that bigger lift and more agressive profile would make a noteworthy difference, as long as they would fit, but then again, I'm not that big a gearhead...

And if not, are there any performance cams for the FP-DE??

Thanks for all the help and replys so far

Niels.

*Edit

After reading a bit elsewhere on the forum, it is said that FS-DE cams wont work on the FP-DE.... as said above.
But what I have read somewhere, is that an FS-ZE intake cam is an option. I also heard about a someone who did it to here in denmark actually. Any thought about that???
