original motor.

my tranny had the internal shifter linkage break which is somewhat common so i had the syncros replaced and what not while they took it apart.

better to replace simple stuff while you can......

Thats good to know that your still on the orig motor. Mine seems to "burn" oil when I drive it hard other then that it doesn't seem to "burn" oil inbetween oil changes.

P5 I'm buying today has 212,xxx on it, where is that 200k+ thread?

lol

AFAIK all original parts, she needs a little tune-up, and some a/c work and should end up being a reliable DD for me...

Do we have a dealership "hook-up?" I'm committed to buying the car, but I wouldn't mind getting a print-out on what was done do her while under warranty, way back when it was under warranty, lol. Or do Mazda dealership's share that info. Seems like it was bought and traded back into the same dealership, maybe I can run by and sweet- talk them into a print out. I should take a hot female friend, or make her do it...

Just got the car-fax, was purchased from dealership, owned for 6.5 years, traded back into a dealership (probably the same one), kid I'm buying it from bought it from the dealership 2 weeks ago. Its a good car (I hope), just not what he thought it would be, will be great for me to DD though...

How do you guys think a 76,000 mile '02 P5 motor, run on Mobil 1 since new and not abused would be strength wise? I know, different thread, but you guys would be the ones to ask!

strenght wise as in durability or strenght wise to handle boost? To handle boost the motor will still pop if not careful. Durability should last awhile as long as the oil changed regularly. My old p5 was upto aroudn 170k without any major issues with other then trans.

2003 P5, 172,000 miles, original clutch, motor, trans.

What's the key for you 190,000+ milers keeping it going? I'm awesome at regular maintenance, but wonder if mine has another 100,000+ left in it.

ghettoracingkid
11-11-2008, 06:53 PM
im hoping for 250,000 or at least another 2 years. which ever one first.

jsut maintenance and not letting things go.

my front lower motor mount went and Im going to replace it tomorrow but I havent driven the car in a week becuase the MM leads to ruined axels which leads to major cash....

since you guys are high in mileage, do you think 6 grand for an MSP with a front mount, lowered, short shifter, etc, but has 90 grand on it..is that a good deal??

Im Close at 145k, at 141 I had to rebuild the top end due to VTCS screw and plate falling into the intake on #4, Still origional Clutch and trans. Ive ran Mobile1 10w30 synthetic since it was brand new, Ive just recently change to 10w40 due to oil consumption. Had to do both front wheel bearings and driver side CV shaft in 07.
