Mazda 5 sales up gone WAY UP

hey guys, i live in toronto. i just recently started a job with Mazda, i was with Mitsubishi before. I'm the frontline guys in Sales, i say 60% of the people that walk thru the doors is looking at Mazda 5. And right now with the 08 model.. they're almost sold out.. 09 won't be here till fall. no major changes, the only changes is 09 GT will have 6 disc cd changer. and white colour will have the option of black leather interior now.

That is very cool Johnson. I'm seeing alot more Mazda 5's on the road now a days. BTW, which dealer do you work for in Toronto?

True. I was at Canadian Tire this morning and counted 3 Mazda5's while having a smoke outside. A year ago, it would've been 3 in a month or more.

Canadians and some states in the US like Mazda5s but yeah, it is more striking in Canada :)

In my area I've seen more but is not yet that radical (thankfully). Serviced my car at the dealership this week and they had tons of Mazda3s, followed by CX-7s, Mazda6s, CX-9s, 2 RX-8s 40th Anniversary Edition and 2 (deux) Mazda5s. My sales guy said that the last Mazda5 MT he sold was mine (scratch), all the rest ATs :D...

Went on a long weekend trip to Toronto a couple of weeks ago from NY. Saw about 10 mazda5 there, took me about a month to see that much in NY!!

By the way got about 29 to 34 MPG on the trip. I was following my cousin who was driving a Nissan Xterra, always left me behind when speeding, but he had to do more stops for gas (ricer).

Yeah, I am seeing more and more Mazda 5 now in GTA ( I live in Markham, about 25km out of downtown Toronto). We had to wait for 7 weeks before getting our Silver GT with leather. When we got our 5, our sales told us to get one with leather one will have to wait for about 3 months now....

6 CD changer for 09, eh? I was really surprised that for a car over 30K I only got a single CD player. Well, we listen to the ipod most of the time anyway....

you can't order 08 mazda 5 anymore. we can only order 09 now.. whatever left out there is the end for 08. if you are looking to purchase one, get it befe theyre gone. i can already see 09 is in production, they should be here in september/october.

Any significant change in 09'? Price-wise? I just picked one up from your dealer ;-) If I'd known, I probably would've waited.... but I love the one I have... it's fantastic.

I have an '08 Touring Manual. They don't exist on Mazda's site, but a few of them actually do exist.

We purchased our '08 5 from near the end of March (when the 60-month 0% financing was "supposed" to end). I guess we were lucky as the car was ready for pickup practically the next day. The salesperson was willing to beat all the other quotes I received from other dealers and my broker. Turned out she was 1 car short of meeting her monthly target and she asked me to do her a favor and pick up the car before March 31st even though the options were not installed yet. I didn't mind the extra trip to the dealership later on because the negotiated price was pretty good.

Now that the 5 is gaining popularity even more here in Canada, the day that the 5 really "stands out" is probably numbered!

One thing I find interesting is that I was told that black interior wasn't available for the white 08 model (but will be available for 09 model as blacktalon13 said). However, I remember reading someone from Alberta saying in the forum that he got a white 08 model with black leather seats. Perhaps options offered in Ontario and Alberta are different?

they extended the 0% financing on the mazda 5.. they took out the 0% for 08 mazda 3 and mazda 6 already. so hopefully they're not gonna touch the 5 yet.

the 5 is on backorder.. there's NO car out there. we have 2 in inventory right now. that's it

i think there is 1 or 2 more shipment for 08 mazda 5. and they are offering black leather interior for white.. which pisses me off too.. i wanted white originally. but oh well.. not much we can do.

Last night in a 15 minutes drive from Markham to Scarborough, I counted 5. At two stop lights there was one right behind me. On one stop light there was this white GT right beside me... I like the while colour, but my silver isn't bad either...

It's definitely getting more and more popular in my area. (Toronto area)

So Far, I have seen only one other Mazda5 GT on Phantom Blue (2006) here in Regina. Her's has a roofrack and one of those aerodynamic cargo box. There are more later model MZ5 however of various colors. None of my friends had opted for the MZ5. Those who wanted more seats jumped over to the Odyssey. Those who have had Minivans went down to sports SUVs. It must be just a glitch (a lucky one) that we ended up getting a MZ5. The requirement we had was for every passenger to have a window seat.

im noticing more and more these days. I used to see one or two a week, now i see at least 3 to 4 everyday. Its pretty cool. I guess word of mouth can be pretty powerful after all.
