GHL is just down the street from me, so I decided to stop by and visit them last week. I mentioned to them that I was looking for an exhaust and test pipe combo because another manufacturer dropped the ball. They gave me and a friend a tour of the shop. It was nice to actually see products made in the US as opposed to overseas somewhere.

Anyway, I really wanted something from the downpipe back, but they said they didn't offer anything to delete the 2nd cat. I suggested that they could easily market a test/race pipe, or they could make their exhaust a little longer so it mounts after the downpipe instead of after the midpipe.

Well, that's exactly what they did. I took my car to them this morning and they used my car to fabricate a piece that extends their exhaust by roughly 2 feet. It mounts to the downpipe flange instead of the flange after the 2nd cat. Needless to say, I'm excited. I have the first GHL exhaust for the MS3 that bolts up at the downpipe.

The exhaust tone is great. It is slightly louder than stock at idle and it is very easy to have conversations at freeway speeds. Some of this may be due to me using tons of RaamMat on the inside of my car. In addition, they offered to weld a resonator in the exhaust, so I took them up on it. The exhaust is very civilized, but makes itself well known at heavier loads. I'm very happy with the noise level and the growly, throaty tone. I might just have to drive with my windows down in this AZ heat. :D

Anyway, I just wanted to let you guys know that this exhaust system is in the works at GHL. I'm not sure when they will hit the market, but keep your eyes open.

Take care,
-Mark

I just want to say, ive dealt with GHL with my MSP and even though i had some problems with mine (it was an initial design problem), their products and customer service are excellent. Great quality and they actually back up their product.

I know i dont have a MS3 but sometimes its good to know your dealing with a great vendor.

Just wanted to give my weekend update. It is quiet on the freeway. It opens up under load. However, the volume difference from stock is negligent on the highway and at idle. The tone is lower. This is exactly what I was looking for and the guys at GHL delivered!

I should also mention that I've got lots of sound deadening inside my car for my sound system. The inner and outer door skins are deadened as is the entire rear cargo area. That might bring my noise levels down from some of you guys. However, even with the windows down, this is a very livable DD exhaust. It's what the car should have sounded like from the factory.

Mark,

Just wanted to thank you for allowing GHL use your car to make the test pipe to adapt to our cat back system.

It really is not that much louder. We used a resonator also to tone it down. I'm not sure if you have a resonator on your system.

Sound Clips please. How much will this down pipe back cost? Is it 3 inch?

GHL sells thousands of systems a year for many different applications so it's hard to remember each customer. Sorry about that.

no worries, my point in saying that was to see if you could compare your cat-back and downpipe-back systems for me. thanks

Sorry about that. To me the sound is slightly louder than before.
