Of course there's only one way to find out (ie. go to the dealer), but does anyone have any idea if the dealer would cover the cost of replacing a dead alternator if the work was done by another shop?
Here's the situation. I was in Atlanta, 2am on a Saturday morning having just packed the car for a driver to Florida for a 1 month vacation. I planned on doing the drive through the night. Anyway, car wont start, battery light on. So, next morning I take the car to the local Firestone (couldn't get an appointment at Mazda that Saturday) and as I thought the alternator was dead.
Car has 44k miles, bought july 2004. I have all my paperwork from Firestone, and it cost me $500 for a new battery, alternator, and labor. Do you think Mazda would cover some of this cost retroactively?
