I have about 21K miles on my 2007 Mazda5. I think it's time to change the air filter but i have no clue how to do it. Has anybody replaced their air filter on their own? Am I just better off taking it into a service center?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Yup, pretty easy. Just a couple of screws on top of the filter box. If you have replaced a filter on other cars, the 5 is just slightly more complicated due to no instructions in the manual.

Thanks again. Should I just go with the basic replacement filter cartridge?

Or is it worth spending a couple of hundred bucks for this?

I just changed my air and cabin filters. I have 18k and its my 1st change of both. Does anyone know why the top side of the air filter is pink on the original, the replacement Mazda air filter is white.

I got a pretty good deal from amazon.com 2 K&N filters for $45.00 after $30 discount with the new amazon visa. With the two filters, you can eliminate the waiting time for cleaning the filter.
