EGR tube and fitting on manifold???

I had a bad exhaust leak where the mani meets the head, so i figured i'd take 20 min max out of my day to put on a new gasket and new studs in. All studs came out easily except for one so I had to disconnect the EGR tube so i could maneuver the (obx) header around a little. The nut for the egr tube came off easily and I got everything back on and when I went to put the EGR tube back on the first two threads of the nut to connect egr tube back is worn down/ cross threaded. (doh) I went to a local exhaust shop and there was nothing they could do b/c they did not have a tap that big. I was curious if anyone knows what size of tap to get and a die for the nut???? This 20 min project is taking 2 days....


If no response by end of day I'm JB welding that tube onto the header! (notcool) DEFINETELY...not cool. haha

jb weld will not hold on the exhaust. i "think" the thread size is 1/2 NPT, but i'm not 100% sure.

will it not hold b/c of the heat?

talks about replacing the egr tube with an off-the-shelf product from home depot. maybe that will help? the fitting is 1/2-inch flare.

awesome thanks man! i just subbed for it...this kit i bought is not in npt but a different coarse. sucks. so i'm not exactly sure what to do about this thread issue!

i just did the mod you suggested! thanks man...my car is running great again and no exhaust leaks. now i need to get a non fouler/mil eliminator to fix my P0140 check engine light.
