ok i am thinking about lowering my protege. the one question i have is if my aftermarket wheels will rub when the car is lowered. the wheels are msr style 126, 17inch, +40offset with 205/40 tires. yes i do know that this offset is a bit low for this car but i love the look of this wheel and as of now it fits perfectly. i believe the only way that it does fit well is because the tire profile is too low to rub the spring perches. i am planning to get some racing beat springs (.875 ride drop front and rear) and tokico
blue struts. anyways, can anybody venture a guess of whether they will rub. thanks

no they wont rub
the spring perch wont move at all so the only way that it will rub is against the fender
and i doubt that .875 drop will rub
my bro has a dx lowered on eibach spings with tokico illuminas and he has no rubbing with 17's +42 offset

You won't rub at all. I would also suggest looking at some different springs though. The Racing Beat springs have a very uneven drop, and I don't think it looks good on our cars at all IMO.

On my first set of rims, I had 17" with +40mm offset (205/45/17 tires) and dropped on Tein S-Techs with Tokico Blues with no rubbing ever. I now have 18" with +45mm offset (215/35/18 tires) with the same suspension set up and still no rubbing.

the racing beat springs only look as if they will give an uneven drop because they preserve the natural forward rack of the car. this is not a problem because i have a heavy ass sub box loaded with 12s and as of right now the back is pretty even with the front. i will, however continue to look around. i don't want a drop of more than 1 inch so the racing beats seemed the logical choice. a car lowered more than 1 inch would most likely prove to be too harsh for the shitty NY roads.
