Hi everyone im new to this forum. Me and the wife purchased our CX-9 a while ago now, and we are planning on going to a lake and take the jet ski but there is more than one problem

1. jetski and trailer is arround 1200lbs if not more?
2. the lake is up north so there will be some hills to climb and downhill?
3. how much did it cost to install the hitch?

so my question is, did any one used the cx-9 to tow their toys?
how did the brakes handle constant braking ect. and did the car had any problems handling the load (underpower?)

(sorry if i misspelled some words english is not my navive language)

thanks in advance
Greg

I have a 5X10 trailer that I just filled with 1.5 ton of mulch and the car pulled it with no issues. I have the factory tow package on my 08. It pulled better that my Ford Explorer with plenty of horses to spare.

1. Without towing package, CX-9 can handle 2000lb. With it, 3500lb.
2. Many hitch choices and good deals at etrailer.com. I installed a Hidden Hitch (class III, OE is class II) that I bought from them. A 30-minute job if you have someone to help you hold it up when tightening or use jack stands. eTrailer.com has free shipping for $150 or more.

Australian version is tow rated for 2000kg (4400lb), I have towed my boat and gear at 1700kg and still pass slower traffic up hills, no issues with brakes either.

It was surprising easy to install a wiring kit. I also added a factory receiver since it's the only 1 1/4" for the CX9, and fits all of my accessories.
