unless you run through puddles deep enough that they come up to your headlights, you wont have any problems with a CAI

Ya... I never really did understand the whole hydrolock thing... unless some people are just idiots and did not have the plastic splash guards etc...

even then, with out all those plastic pieces, its not very likely.

I live in the FL, and sudden massive outbursts of rain are not uncommon and poor drainage do cause problems. So, CAI converted to SRI for me
As to what SRI to get, the Ebay SRI is fine, as long as you put a good filter on the end of it. All it is is a tube.

what i think is funny is all the protege people that think they are better off with the AEM SRI when compared to the Injen CAI. the filter is at the same level!!! (just one is inside the fender well)

I don't get that either. I actually sold off my AEM SRI, cause, well, it was just as low as the Injen CAI. lol
Now I run the Injen CAI converted to SRI with K&N filter

Very close I agree... and the CAI is more protected, LOL! I had a CAI on my MSP and a SRI on this Pro LX I just got recently. Hell, who cares... just stay out of deep farking water! (help)

^agreed, but, the times it is not possible, i prefer havin the SRI.
I don't go purposefully looking for deep water, but, if you're forced into it by a dousche in the lane over not letting you try to avoid it, whatcha gonna do?

still, you'd have to go into a puddle that over a foot deep. i guess in the flatlands like florida, sometimes thats not possible to avoid.

Doesn't matter, you'd be screwed with either. Be ready to turn the key off quick is your only out. Would be cool if they made a sensor that would detect an overage of moisture/water and kill the motor.

How would you be screwed with the SRI? Other than oil going into other parts of the motor and tranny. My filter is at the top of my engine bay now as opposed to at the bottom.
We're talking just hydrolock here from a splash through a deep puddle, not driving across a river

Ahhh... now I see your point. My SRI goes down to the bottom of the engine bay but not into the fender well because it is a AEM, not a knockoff. Maybe I should call it a LRI? Long Ram Intake? LOL!

Yeah, the AEM SRI is an in-engine bay CAI. lol. I had one, but, ended up selling it and bought an Injen CAI I converted to an SRI.
The AEM SRI runs way too deep into the engine bay for me, just like a CAI
