I thought you had to switch to the cartridge type oil filter and add that spacer thing where you can screwin your oil gauge.Other then that I dont know of any other way.

an easier way and the only way i know of,is to get the conversion kit for a spin on filter and then get the prosport sandwich plate.

or ditch the stock pressure switch and screw the sensor right into the existing hole.

At one point Ken told me that that Prosport plate will not fit the MS3? I had one on order along with the conversion kit and he recommended I cancel the order until Prosport revised the plate's fitment.
What gives?

Instead of an oil pressure gauge, you may want to consider checking the oil level on a regular basis.

I read about the fitment problem as well. Putting an adapter on for the oil filter is a bit scary anyway, IMO.

you dont need to convert the oil filter all you have to do is take out the stock oil presser sencer off put in a T fitting now all three sides are going to have diffrent threds you will ( i did) have to have one custom made but it dose work i have the prosport oil press in my car no biggy

What happens if I have a full oil reservoir and a loss of oil pressure?
One does not indicate the other is healthy.

...I'd also be curious to know of a good method of checking the dip-stick while traveling at high speeds, esp while accelerating, when oil pressure is of the most interest ;)

Nah, it's not too big a deal. Sometimes the fittings for the gauge can be a pain -- I had trouble with them on my last car because I'm a newb :) -- but the adapter itself just screws into the block, and the filter screws into the adapter. The adapter has several threaded ports with plugs; remove the plugs from the port you want to use and thread in your oil pressure sender. Just be sure to use teflon tape liberally and don't over-tighten anything.

Converting the oil filter allows the use of other filters besides Mazda's OE part, which is a benefit in and of itself. Also, to some, having a custom fitting made is at least as difficult as screwing together some plates and fittings.

or you could tee into the oil feed line going to your turbo.

That's exactly what I did on my old turbo Focus, and the ensuing mess of fittings/adapters is what contributed to my woes. But it is a perfectly usable spot and I'm sure I could do it better this time - I just kept over tightening, yeilding fittings, leaking oil... it was a disaster :)

lol i made a stainless steel feed line with nothing but stainless steel fittings so i dont have to worry about dealing with soft metal or alumnium. just wrap it up with some teflon and get her snug lol
