Hey Guys,

Here's a question i'm hoping you all can answer for me. My compressor goes on, but turns off a couple of seconds later. It's really intermittent, on, off, on, off, on, off....

The A/C works really well when the compressor is on and it blows ice cold air. As soon as the compressor turns off, it gets weaker, but then a couple of seconds later, the compressor kicks in, and the a/c is ice cold again.

Last summer, i did refill my own A/C with the EZ CHILL R134 recharge kit, but im just wondering if the compressor is supposed to act like this?!?!? Did i possibly overfill it, or maybe its underfilled. Im not too good with A/C units and how they're suposed to act.

Can anyone give me a hand with this? What PSI is the system supposed to be filled at when the compressor is off? What's the PSI supposed to be at when the compressor is ON?

Any and all help is much appreciated. Thanks

The COmpressor is supposed to cycle on and off like that..If its cooling dont worry about it.

If it was low on 134 then it wouldn't be ice cold. Have you tried turning the temp knob back about halfway towards warm to see if it cycles less. I could see it being problem if it constantly is just on/off for seconds at a time & not really cooling that well. It should stay on & cycle a bit less frequently when it's actually trying to cool the car down vs. just giving it a bump maintaining a cool temp.

what about the PSI question?

When the compressor is on it's about 25psi, once it turns off it's at 40+ psi.

does that sound right or even normal?

or maybe im getting the numbers mixed up!
