I'm interested in achieving approximately 200whp (maybe a little less) with an all motor set up. I'm completly lost. I searched through these forums, and everyone seems to have a different opinion on the best way to reach this goal. Most say turbo. I, however (not to sound like a snob) do not want to run a turbo. What is a good way to get this kind of power, with out the use of forced induction/nitrous oxide?

looks like youll be joining these guys "http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123681990" honestly theses motor are weaksauce man, be more efficeint to go turbo, say you do intake, headers and exhaust, and maybe lets say cams, intake i think is about 200$, headers are what like 150$, catback is around 220$ depending what type and cams not too sure but spend at least 600$ and you probably get about 125whp...but with that money you could probably find a used msp kit and be at about 150whp. iono check out the dynos in that section....i love NA but i dont have money to be throwing away, most efficient, if you can go for the challenge i suppose

Yes, pretty much all-motor = "fale"

Yeah, if gas wasn't so much I'd go turbo as well, but I already spent so much on my NA set up and I get great gas mileage so I can't complain about the 115WHP I probaby haven't even got.

I don't think anyone has made it to 200whp NA. That would be 10x as much $$$ as going turbo. Used msp set-ups have gone for just under $1k in the FS section with a few more upgrades you'd be there!

your numbers are way off

a name brand intake yes will run around 220

a header-240
a quality catback-500+
an aggressive cam setup- 800 (integral cams)
full lightweight pulley set- 200+
a highflow midpipe is around 200+

these are just basic bolt ons, and youll still be under 150 to the wheels.

well im saying the cheapest way possible which means like buying shit on here or ebay or whatever, so you wont be paying msrp on everything, because it would be kinda stupid to compare prices of buying all new NA parts and used turbo stuff......not too sure about prices for these cars either, im still debating wheater its worth fixing this shit up, good mpg, looks great, lots of room and function, but motor is well below average I think, but i will admit there are people in here with some fast ass FS-DEs.

This car really takes alot of work either way... To get enough power NA would be a completely build motor and major headwork ems etc. Spending $5k+on the motor alone. Just my opinion but if you go turbo it will be hard to not want to turn up the boost. Then you start challenging the stock motor and tranny.

Either realize the limits and do I/H/E cams and whatever else but also the suspension set-up OR be happy with maybe 10psi msp set-up with the right mods around 200whp OR build the motor and tranny and plan for over $15k++.

Why not start by swapping out the motor for a KL-ZE? Then you'll have much more range to work with.
