Hey all, i was wondering what needs to be tuned up, my 2002 mp5 hit 80k miles, i was thinking ignition coils/wires, struts and shocks. i can find the struts no problem using partstrain.com, but aftermarket springs seem to be cheaper than oem. my buddy told me if i lowered my car i would need to take it to the manufacture to re-program my car's specs in the chip because it changes the cars aerodynamics and shuch. Is this true, or does anyone know where i can find some cheap oem springs? Also what else would need to be tuned up. thanks.

Just put a set of plugs in it and check your air filter, you could do the two wires if you want. And never do anything your friend says to do,,,, EVER!
I feel like I need to add this, change your oil every 3k miles, make sure you don't have wires showing on your tires and change your dome light fluid once a year. (Just kidding about the Dome light)
Do you have the book that came with your car? It has a maintenance schedule in it. I believe at 80K you're just supposed to change the oil (this is assuming you've done everything else on time.) You only need to change the coils or the spark plug wires if there's something wrong with them. Same with the struts. You should never need to change your springs.
And if you get lowering springs, you'll need an alignment, maybe that's what your friend was trying to say.
If you just want to do a tune up because you're not sure, change the oil, get new spark plugs and an airfilter, maybe a PCV valve if it doesn't rattle when you shake it and replace the coolant and tranny fluid if they look dirty.
