I did a search on this and came up with some posts on the mazda 3 back in 2004. The issue is that my drivers side mirror rattles when I reach freeway speeds or if the bass is hitting. The passenger mirror doesn't move at all. Is anyone else experiencing this issue? One of the guys in the 2004 forum said that is was because he motor mounts needed to be tightened. What do you think?

same problem. at high speeds the "mirror only", not the complete assembly, vibrates. its a similar effect to bass

Anyone figured out a way to fix it?

Well there's a difference between vibrating with bass, and rattling (i.e. making noise). If the motor mount is loose then you can easily pop the mirror glass off and tighten the three screws and see if it helps. To remove the glass portion follow the beginning instructions (sans removing the housing from the car) of my heated mirror install How To found HERE (http://web4.systemcrash.org/forum/showthread.php?t=123697987).

If it's not the mirror motor then it's possible that the painted cover is loose. It's held on by several clips and it could be that one of them is broken.

Good deal! I will try to tighten the motor and see if it works. I wondered how to get back behind that mirror. I hope I don't break the mirror though.

It's a lot tougher than you'd think it is. You'll be amazed at the amount of pressure you have to exert on it putting it in and taking it out, but it will be just fine.
