I have searched and only found 2001+ carbon fiber Protege hoods. Anyone make them for the big eyed 99-2000? I have found CF trunk lids which I think are the same from 99-2xxx, but no specific hoods. Even fiberglass will do, just cutting weight. Thank you. Bye for
Sure, they make and sell them in Taiwan all the time. VIS used to make them back in the day and there's even a few used ones floating around. But your chances in finding one are slim to none. If you can get a hold of a contact in Taiwan, you might be lucky enough to get one.
One company in particular in Taiwan called Shine's Tuning sells them and I was quoted $700 shipped to my door. That included the cost of the hood, shipping, import taxes and fees, and insurance. Keep in mind the cost will be extremely expensive which is why I decided not to do it. It's all depends on how much you're willing to spend. I'm just passing along the info to you and whoever wants it.

Also, a company call MRS Racing in Taiwan specializes in Ford Tierras and Mazda Proteges and they can probably get you one too. I don't know anything about pricing because I haven't contacted anyone there. Link (http://www.mrs-racing.com.tw/)

wow thanks for the info - that's something I've been looking for for a while too. I was quoted 1000$ to have one custom made.

Wow, I was hoping to lighten the car up to save some mpg's, but by saving the money I could probably fill up the tank for a month. Thanks for the info though, I do appreciate the reply. I was just hoping there would be someone in the states, and a bit cheaper. I'll keep my eyes open. Maybe I can have someone make a fiberglass hood.

I'm not thinking just the hood will make a difference. It's one of many things to lighten it up.
