i was in the area so i decided to see if Vince at RT Tuning in Lansdale, PA could throw me on his dynojet so i could see a curve. I can't wait until there is a viable tuning interface for this thing. I'll go right to Evans Tuning in PA and have Jeff throw this thing on his dynapack and tune away. The a/f up top leaves SO much potential, and there is just some general fine tuning that could be done to make things smoother.

For what it's worth, the first sheet is SAE corrected, the second is raw, STD....

mods are a Cobb intake and TXS mid-pipe.

thx guys.

y0, can i see your sheet? i want to compare the curves. i can't find that many ms3 sheets...

the numbers are so arbitrary really because of all the dyno differences, the curve is what im curious about. there was one ms3 in that dyno shops system system, elbartorex from on here, but he has like 80 billion pulls with all kinds of mods each time so it was not worth comparing curves because there werent notes as far as i could see, so i had no idea what was done each time.

Your car takes a gaint shit right around 5700rpms but nice #'s nonetheless!

I need my midpipe (protest)

that is why i can't wait for a real tuning interface for this thing; the a/f's were as low as 9:1 after the power dropped off; though i think cam timing has something to do with the low redline of these engines, and natural breathing obstructions, there is some potential because there is no way that turbo is genuinely running out of breath like that; there is room for a few more lbs up top.

^ agreed

I think pretty much all MS3's take a gaint shit at around 5700ish. I was just giving you a hard time (lol2)

This has been discussed on the other forum profusely. There is no tuning that can be done to "unlock" power up top. Its a limitation of the small turbo and cam setup. Also, like most dynojets, that one was not loaded correctly as I can guarantee you aren't getting 9:1 on the streets. The dynojet I was on said the same thing, but on the street everyone (including myself) is seeing 10.5:1. I would NEVER tune on a dynojet.

i agree with you on using a dynojet for tuning, however, it dips into the 9's on mine on the street as it approaches the rev limiter/fuel cut...i only did it once though around the time i first got my dash hawk because i can't stand pushing this thing much past 6k max, and for good reason.

i love the staff. vince is a really great dude. i just don't particularly favor dynojets for tuning, that's all. i really am partial to dynapacks over anything else.

Gotcha. I like them over there. It really is one of the only shops I've been to where I have felt totally comfortable and at ease. Pat's a good dude too, and a Mazda head :)

Did they have the crazy yellow NSX there yet? Or the white mini-tubbed 240 out?

I really want to see that orange GS when they are all done with it...

they had a boatload of cars. they had a Panoz race car on the alignment rack, which you don't see everyday, and that orange lexus is definately a spectacle! you don't see many grabber orange GS sedans with roll cages.

Yeah, that's an old Team Lexus GT Cup car. They are going nuts with it, IIRC it will have a Lexus V-8 (whatever gobbledy-goock letters toyota uses, lol...1uz something) with a Supra 6M box.

Are they cobb protuners? Your best bet would be to buy an Accessport when the protune software comes out if they are. Throw some stage 2 mods and you'll be making crazy mid-range. Nothing will help with the high end unless you plan on getting a bigger turbo....even then the cam shaft profiles are still limiting air since they are designed for mid range.

i wish they had cam sprockets so you can play with cam timing; if i could retard the cams a bit, together, i could shift the power band up to change the dynamics. so, with some tuning and a slight bump in psi, i could now have an even broader power band. i know there is potential in playing with these cams and some map tweaking, but this isn't an option so no use in talking about it i guess ; )

All the guys are R/T are awesome-- I have done all of my 20+ dyno runs there on my MS3 including my baseline so I will be going back there whenever I do a major upgrade. I haven't even dynoed my current setup there-- so look for that chart soon.
