Should....But will be very close to rubbing most likely.
Are you lowered at all?
I would think a +42 would be better.

what tire size would you be running? thats the MOST important question. i have 16x8 +50 rims on my car, with 3mm spacers and 215/45-16 tires and NO rubbing. a 16x7 +40 will have 6mm more room at the fender with the same tire size. you could probably even run a 225/45-16 on them and still be fine.

Another solo2 competitor who has a MSP in my class (STX) got 16x7 with an offset of 42.
He has Falken RT-615 225/50-16 and had big rear upper lip rubbing problems. His car rides on Tein S-Tech coils on OE shocks. He needed to roll the rear fender upper lip and install cam-bolts to get over 2 degrees of negative camber to avoid the rubbing. Please note that the RT-615s are wider than a regular tire with the same numbers.

i think it will be fine, as long as you stay with a 215 width tire or less. if you remount the 205/50's, you'll still probably be fine.
