Hi I have tried searching the forums but couldn't find an answer.
I am going to replace the door speakers in my 1997 mazda mx5 mk1. It has 6.5" round black speaker covers. I would like to know how to change the speakers. Does the grill just pull off from the front or do I have to remove the door panel to change the speakers?
Any help is appreciated, thanks.

I believe on your car the whole panel must come off. Remove the door pull, the 'cup' for the handle. Then gently tug at the botton of the panel to pop the clips out, and lift the panel off the door as it hooks onto it from the top lip.

Thanks again MiaTurbo, the job went really smoothly you were spot on, I just had a little trouble with the window winders those pesky clips holding them on...
My new speakers sound much better then the originals.

What's an MX5 mk1? Are we related to toyota all of a sudden? :p
I know on the 1992s, there is a panel directly over the speaker that pops off. And I know this because as i was trying to clamber my way out of the passenger race seat, I kicked it and it fell off once LOL
