View Full Version : Question about Engine Mounts

After an exhaustive 3 min search... I figured I'd just create a new thread.

So I'm cruisin around the PG & SU site looking for some new stuff for my ageless MSP.

Seems like motor mounts are the most popular on SU so there must be something to having them. Question is... they come in 4 different packages and I haven't a clue which one to get. (front & rear, front, rear & side)

The descriptions all basically say the same thing. I'm assuming front, rear & side would be best... but that's a lot of $ and might be overkill.

So what do you guys suggest? Are the SU versions the best? Do I really need to have all 4 corners covered?

i hear the front and rear mounts are usually the first to go, the different options may be a different durameter or stiffness in each of the mounts.....im not 100% sure but im interested in what other people will say about this too. im looking to replace mine also.

Well you should probably get all 4. My side mount was actually the first to go. I wouldn't get the SU mounts though.

I would get the medieval mounts. They are way cheaper and super high quality.

Well I have had the AWR mounts w/inserts ... didn't like it they rattled my dash to hell

I have stock filled mounts now w/ sls side mount ... they are good but starting to come apart - the sls mount is a total piece of junk, i know its going to break in a matter of time

the medieval mounts are amazing can't wait to get them installed.

Ok so the medieval front and rears are $100 less than SU...

I'm not interested in sacrificing NVH for less 'wheel hop' so... what's the deal?

Also, how come medieval doesn't have side mounts? are they unnecessary?

The medieval mounts side mounts will be released soon. They will definitely have all 4 mounts out within the next month. He already has the front, rear, and passenger side mounts made. He is just kitting them together right now.

Cool... do you think it would make sense to wait till they're all out and put them in at once or... put the sides in later once they're released

The stock motor mounts are inadequate for even a stock car. The Medieval mounts will tighten up your engine from flopping around and reduce torque steer and wheel hop. They are ultimate stability of your engine/trans. These are a direct bolt in replacement mount. Constructed with a steel frame with steel inserts and custom polyurethane bushings.

Kamon8404 is correct. We have the rear and front mounts on Group Purchase right now. For the price, you can't go wrong. The mounts are being offered at an introductry price and are a steal at that. The passenger side mount is being powercoated at this time and will be offered in a GP in the next day or 2. I want to get out the front and rear mounts before offering the passenger side. The transmission mount proto type is on a car now and will be revised one more time before production.

I had the SU front and rear and AWR front and rear and they caused so much
vibration I had to remove them.. now back to stock except the front mount
how are these compared to the 62A duro??? is it softer??

well, ofcourse its going to vibrate more. your taking in all of the engines vibrations. if you just install the front mount, and put in some side mount inserts, you should be fine.

i have a SLS passenger side mount for sale if you want it. i think you sould go for at least two, i went with only one solid mount and it did not work out well.

You honestly might want to just go with the full side mounts. I had the inserts and it didn't do much at all. In addition the full mounts will last a lot longer.

Retail will be $49 for the front and $55 for the rear come this weekend plus shipping. Right now you save about $20.
