Its actually the only investment i will put into this car - seeing as me and my girlfriend just got this as our first car, we dont want to void any of our warranties doing stupid shit to our brand new car....You dont have to like it....I just bugs me that i said not to flame and here you come, flameing just because you see something you dont like..... You could have been like orlandomsp, and just said it wasnt your thing.....but no, you had to be a big ol D' word about it.

On a lighter note, no it doesnt draw attention from cops because I only turn it on in parking lots, if at all.

B!&%$ are you retarded?? I posted my opinion that I didnt like it. That is all. Posting a pic of a mod and wanting only compliments is assinine. There are people who will think that its the best thing since sliced bread and people that think it is not.... Flaming would have been me saying your car looks like crap that its 100% rice and belongs on a Civic...
If you dont want honest opinions dont post pics....

I was actually thinking of doing this to my car using blue LEDs but I would only do so if there is a switch to turn it off. I don't want this ON all the time whenever I turn on the car.

Joe Vance

I actually installed them myself, you dont want to do LED's unless you want the colors to change, i would suggest staight neons because they are much brighter and easier to install....And the package i bought came with a wire diagram and an on/off switch. I just stuck the on/off switch in that little box beside the steering wheel, with nothing in it. if you look behind it as its closed you can shove something through it and when you open it. it looks flush. I havent drilled mine in place, because i havent decided if i want it to stay there or not yet. plus i still have to install the side ones. If you need any help finding some that would fit you best or step by step instructions let me know.

I'm sure it looks sweet in person but here in Ohio they are kind of weird about neon until you start spewing off excerpts from the law books.

I had red neon (but no strobes in marker lights) on my red Storm back in the mid-late 90's and got pulled over a few times so I looked it up back then, appears the laws havent changed.

Lights must not rotate, oscillate, or flash, but state law does not prohibit the use of colored neon lights under your car as long as they do not interfere or blind other drivers.
Ohio Revised Code, section 4513.17 prohibits flashing lights on motor vehicles with the exception of emergency vehicles, turn signals, and hazard flashers.
As long as the neon lights are less than 300 candle power they are not in violation of any State law. If the lights are more than 300 candle power they must be directed to strike the pavement the vehicle sets upon at a distance of no more than 75 feet. The lights can not exceed 500 candle power.

Wow, some of you need to lighten up. Yes, he wants your opinions but why don't you come at it with a little better attitude. Not "RICE, YOU'RE A DUMBASS." How about, "I'm not a fan", or "meh, I wouldn't do it but looks alright."

Joe Vance

Thanks andrew,

And for people calling it rice....How is it rice, i havent done a damn thing to the car but put some lights in the grill. its not like i have a 20' Wide Exhaust pipe and a wing to fly to the airport. Seriously, if i wanted to put money into this car i would, its the warranty factor, i would like to look into what voids my warrantys first. not all of us are complete fuck ups when it comes to cars.

Joe you keep mentioning warranty concerns for not doing other mods... Quick question... Did you wire the neons into your stock wiring harness for power?? Or directly to the battery?? Either way if the neons cause a power spike and fry your stock wiring/accessories warranty will not cover it. If the neons cause a excessive drain on the battery its not covered under warranty. So in effect your neon mod can affect your warranty...
If your that concerned about warranty then 0 mods for the warranty period is your best bet...

I think its a little easier to rip off some neons and acting like they were never there. then to rip off an exhaust system or tires....cmon now man. lol

the only thing you have done to the car is neons which definitely makes it rice. The definition of rice can be taken in many ways.

Rice is basically Form>Function.
Rice is a modified car not tastefully done.

Why do you need a enormous body kit and a huge wing on a civic w/ 90whp??? It only may look aggressive but would sure as hell get pulled on by grandma's Ford Taurus.
You see Supras, 350Z's, Evo's and STI's these days w/ very aggressive aero parts but you know what, Most have make nice power as well.

In your case, neons are strictly for show and your car ain't show quality.

If you had that on at night and people see you, you would be called a ricer. Trust me.

But again, its your car and if you love it, more power to you. Good Luck

Ha ha, some people really need to lighten up. If you're worried about warranty just find a nice set of rims and finish it off with a set of springs, you shouldn't have any problems with the dealer. :)

Joe Vance
04-15-2008, 03:25 AM
i do plan on getting rims tires and springs, but im not going to be cheap about it - so im saving up for more then enough to buy what i want...and i also have to talk my girlfriend into letting me get them put on - its her car aswell.... and yeah - people do need to lighten up, its just a little red light....yeash

And by the way - i was thinking about taking the stock rims and just powder coating them....It would give it a more special look - something different. ya know? (i like the mazda emblem on the rims)

Joe, I always wondered how something like that would look on a Supra (front grille and side brake ducts), and I think it's kind of cool. Would be more oriented to showing the car than for a daily ride, but hey, you could also have some fun making your car "angry" when you have a slowpoke in the passing lane. ;)
