My uncle bought ten of these. I am going to be purchasing one. I have big plans for it.
It's not street legal currently so the #1 objective is to find out how to make it street legal, If not on the highway than at least on access roads and such.
It's a right drive 5 speed 4x4 Not sure about the engine or HP cuz I didn't have time to look but I'm super stoked. I spent about 30 minutes with it and I fell in love.
If I can't make it street legal then I'm I know what I'm doing, First thing I'm doing is getting larger wheels, Somewhere in the 10 inch category, Not for show, I'll just get some plane black painted ones like the cop cars have. Second I'm going to make an SRI or CAI for it and 3rd I'm going to chop off the exhaust and make a new one.
I am so beyond excited about playing with this thing, You don't even know.
Here are some pictures.

They are trucks in smaller areas of japan.
I imagine they are mainly for market and delivery use but are also privately owned.

Sweet! I actually have the opportunity to purchase 1 of 3 meter maid vehicles which is probably smaller than this! Its also considered a truck lol. But it has a 4 cylinder Mazda motor in it from the Ford Aspire. Its governed at 40mph but Im told a simple relay modification will allow it to max out. Speedo reads 80 and it has a 3spd auto. Probably wont buy it but for $500 Im tempted to and see what can be done to it! lol

for $500.00 why not buy it and crash it at the very least.

this is a kei-truck (in the same class as japanese kei cars) which means, the engine is tiny, like 30hp or less tiny, and ususally no larger than a 660cc...
great cars, my friend has a kei car (honda beat) and a kei truck (honda something or other) and a kei van (Honda Acty van)
great on gas, fun to drive, and funny to look at :)
great purchase :)
and they are street legal in canada (as long as they are over 15 years old, import laws)

I'm on the look out for a motor small enough to fit in it, I would think almost anything would be faster, Even if I got a mid 80's base civic engine with like 107 hp.
It has less than 60HP thats all I know but it's quite nimble for a car of that low power.

Cor-rect! I drove a kei-car for a year in Japan (aka yellow plate car for the special license plate.... cheaper to insure/register). Mitsubishi 3-door hatchback. They are quite fine to drive in the slow lane on the highways but wouldn't do over 70 mph. (give or take 5-10 mph). It was in kilometers so I can't exactly remember. I took mine on pretty frequent road trips.
Quite fun because they're so light. But those engines can't be over 660cc and they are built quite like a tin can. Worst quality was super skinny tires and top heavy. Oh wait, worst quality was gas pedal would stick until shutting off the engine was the only option. :)
Not 30hp.... more like 55 I think. Is likely 3-cylinder not 4. Maybe some "sport" models had 4. Often the sport models had a turbo 3 with a whopping 65 or 70 horses.
Anyway.... that thing's awesome. I'd love to have one. Crazy a motorcycle is street legal but that's not. But they would snarl traffic, they are not fast. :D

I'm not sure, I reckon I could lift the nose up by myself easily unless the bumper ripped off under the stress, And I'm pretty small. 5'10, 140 pounds.

I miss my kei-car so much right now. The thing is... when you're driving on narrow-ass Japanese mountain roads that barely fit 2 cars across.... you don't -want- anymore horsepower. You basically drive the car some sort of combination of full-off full-on throttle and hope the shitty drum brakes don't fade out on you too much when you get to a turn! Not to mention the tragic understeer.... I remember using my parking brake a lot for real.
