do you have forged motor? cause the stock turbo is alot more than capable than blowing the motor with out forged internals and yes i would say you would need a ems of some kind so you can tune the car and maybe even bigger injectors.

... then why did you even upgrade the turbo. its just more money you have to spend on things like.
-ems - either fuel, or fuel and timing
-boost controller
-tune - which can equal alot
-rebuild if you blow the motor with the bigger turbo.
-then you need things like full exhaust
-intake
-aluminum pipes
-upgraded intercooler
it goes on...i sure hope you have all those things. otherwise you will pop, maybe later, but most likely sooner

(not trying to be a dick just honest. these cars aren't dsm's. they are mazda tooth pick motors)

It says ..."After installing a GT28..WOULD I need to tune the car?"

Not really, you'll just have to keep the low boost setting.

correct me if I'm wrong.. but you wouldn't NEED to tune this. as long as the turbo doesn't outpace the injectors, the MAF will read the extra air, and put in extra fuel to match.. you'd basically be trading a later spool speed for more peak power.. and could VERY easily turn your engine into confetti in the process..

on the other hand if the turbo DOES outpace the injectors you lean out and then all sorts of fun things happen. haha.

It's really up to you how comfortable you feel with your car. I've seen people turbo their na cars with no type of management, obviosly if your asking your not that comfortable but you are playing with fire if you run a big turbo with no management.

I say if you just gonna use it to go to work and school then trade it in, I wouldnt really even touch it you might find yourself blowing it or something, I would just do simple bolt ons
