Guys,
Im new to the forum having come from the Subaru world. I want to start off by saying in no way am I affiliated nor do I represent P&L or Cobb.

I know a lot of folks here are former Subaru owners so most should be familiar with P&L's in house tuner, Jorge. For those who dont know him he is one of the premier tuners in the Suby world as well many other vehicles. Jorge previously did all of the tunes on my WRX wagon. I spoke with him yesterday about the posibility of doing Cobb Protuning on the MS3 and he said its just a matter of the shop buying into the marquee from Cobb when the tools are released. He said that they would need about 5 people to justify the cost increase to their license. Keep in mind the AP is NOT released yet and the Protuning tools will be further down the road as well.

So, with that in mind how many folks would be interested in tuning with Jorge? Hopefully some of the Suby guys can chime in here to give some more info as well. I will send Jorge a link to this thread and ask him to join and post as well.

Thanks for the kind words Steve!

We just wanted to let you guys know that P&L has made the decision to fully endorse and support the AP for the Mazda's.

Over the last several months we've been working with Cobb Tuning on the RX-8 applications, and will be moving forward with the MS3 app as well.

As I haven't read any of the vendor rules of this site I'll leave my comments there until we can establish a vendor account on this site, but know that we are fully committed to sell, support, and tune your vehicle!

FWIW, we've only had two states NOT make it through this door.

Maine, and Hawaii.

Yes... We've had someone from Alaska in for tuning...

heh

I really think that I lucked out when I bought my speed3.

I happened to move to the Lake County/Cook County area right before I purchased my ms3. I was ecstatic to learn that the little shop I passed on the train everyday on my way to work called "Protege Garage" happens to be one of the leading aftermarket Mazda garages in the country and now.. P&L here which is.. about 20 minutes from where I work... I think I died and went to tuner heaven.

So, I've got a nice fat refund check coming my way which I'm pretty excited about... and I'm local... pretty much stock at this point (had to rush to buy the car a few months ago, long story.. Ken did supply me with an intake and bpv but nothing beyond that but money was tight so it's finally about to free up)... so I guess my question is.. what can P&L do for me?

there are other big name shops around here also like AMS, Speed inc., A-spec, Sound Performance and Lingenfelter is just over the border in Indiana.

So here's the deal. I'm working with Cobb on testing the tuning software, so if anything, if there is anyone who's pony'ing up for an AP, let me know and maybe we can work something out for some free tuning to test the software out.

But I'll fill in those blanks as we go on.

I was just down visiting P&L last Friday with a buddy of mine. He had his STi tuned by Jorge and I just gotta say, their shop is run by nice, professional, individuals. My buddy's clutch was almost gone so the tune had to end prematurely (so we could make it home), but the improvements we saw were unbelievable. As soon as Jorge has finished pulling his hair out over the speed3 ECU, I will be back to have my car tuned for sure.

Jorge, just gotta say, your recommendation for lunch was AMAZING! The combo, with fries...as you say "que bella"! I didn't go with the chocolate malt as I didn't think I would be able to handle all that. Especially with the long ride home. Keep us updated with your tuning! THANKS!

if i bought an AP, that is the only place i would consider bringing it for a tune.

Not a bad deal for a custom tune. If you consider the base maps put you in the ball park, it really should never take more than an hour to hour and a half.
Its obvious that these ecu's are flashable. There are three companies doing it now. I still have hopes that some wonderfull company will just release the software so we can OBDII flash by ourselves. It would be great to avoid buying the $600 tool when you could just run the flash software off of a laptop and save a shit ton o $$$. Just a dream i have.
