Hello,
While looking for my jack car last weekend, I found that there was a significant amount of water inside the rear quater panels. I live in Montreal, we get a good amount of snow. The water probably comes from the trunk seal (which I inspected and seems to be fine), the snow freezes between the seal and the trunk, melts, drips on the trunk carpet and goes to the quarter panels. There is no drain hole there. I will keep an eye on the matter to see if it drips when it rains, but I strongly suggest to all Mazdaspeed owners living in cold weather places to take a look inside the rear quarter panels, it doesn't take much to get evil rust going
Keep spooling!

Btw, a good way to see if your trunk seal is damaged is to lower your rear seats and take a look inside your trunk while in a car wash. What you see might not be pleasant.....

There is a joint that hasn't been sealed correctly by mazda inside the trunk, under the tail light.
Remove the plastics in the trunk, get inside it from the back seats and have someone run water over the car, you should see from where it leaks.
A good patch of silicon will rid you of this problem I had on my old LX!

Yeah I went through the car wash with the rear seat down. Wow i have a lake in my trunk. Any one have any ideas how to fix or if the dealer will do it. It leaks on the seam near the rear window.

I used to get water in my trunk. I figured out it was coming from the plastic pop clip post, in the upper corner of the taillight (the part where there is no screw). Used a little silicone on both sides and haven’t had a drop since then.

I took the car to the car wash, not a drop from the weather strip. I took out the interior of the trunk and the tail lights. I found seam seal on the bracket that holds the bumper slightly cracked (I doubt water comes in from there though). I also found some water on the vent that is located on the left quarter panel....no clue how water gets there, it's a mistery of life.....but I sealed it all around with silicone.
