Just want to let everyone know I'm new to the forum and mods in general. Sorry everyone!
I was just wondering what people think about doing a window tint yourself. Seems pretty easy to screw up and I don't want to screw it up. I was thinking about doing it myself but I might just have to take it in to get done. Has anyone done it that is not really a professional? Hopefully someone can help!

don't do it. take it in. i've seen it enough times to know it's not something for the novice. i've only heard of 2 people who have done it themselves before on the forums, and that was their job.
And I think, it costs more to get it off then it does to get it on? so if you messed up you'd be SOL anyways.
There should be a few places in your area, wherever you are. just google it! it cost me $200 to get it done and 0 problems. and if i did, you just take it back and fix it.
Not trying to discourage you, just giving my perspective and just sayin it's best to take it to a shop :)
(ps. check your local state laws on tint %!)

I have been hearing many more stories of cops busting people for tints.

it costs around $80-$100 to get it done professionally down here in FL, Seriously just pay to get it done, if u do it urself and its ur first time its guaranteed that its not gonna look good. Theres gonna be bubbles in it, u wont cut it properly, and ull just end up taking it off and taking it somewhere.
Save the headache and do it right the first time.

i've never been pulled for my tint. only time i get in trouble is when i get pulled for something else. but every cop has just let me go, besides 1. but it's a fix it ticket and i just went back to my inspection shop and got the new inspection done and no tint removed :)

my brother and I did it ourselves back in da days to his 1st car. and my dad truck it was fun but super easy to mess up! cuttin and makin it fit can be a B**ch i payed $140 to get my whole car tinted 5% which its supposed to cost more! so my advice pay! its worth it! plus you get lifetime warranty with most! my advice ask for Lumar film!

I've seen way too many bad tint jobs to recommend doing it yourself. It's cheap to get done professionally; saving a little bit of money isn't worth the risk.

thanks everyone. I think I'll just take it in then. I figured a good idea to try it out myself.
