So i bought my MSP last monday everything has been great with it no probs watsover... until today... it will only build 4or5 lbs of boost and will hold steady at that but wont even make the turkey it just kinda lets all the boost out at once... not only that when i rev it to like 3000 rpm and let it drop back down to idle it almost dies and then levels back out... but while driving if i am goin and just push in the clutch and hold it there like stoppin at a light or somthin it just all out dies... i found a vaccum hose cracked and replaced it but its still doin the same thing and its all out of nowhere... somebody help me please!!!

blow into the vacuum line that goes to the wastegate, if you can blow in then the WG is the problem, let me know.

sounds like you have more than one problem, if you are loosing boost most likely its a vac leak somwhere... hard to find, since you seem to know what your boosting you should have a boost/vac gauge, what is your vac at idle?
for your car dieing when you put the clutch in/reving its probably the EGR valve getting stuck...there is a how-to to fix it in the how-to section...its not too hard to DIY just a PITA to get to

good point...Wastegate is always a problem but I think overboosting would point to WGA not lost boost

EGR could also be a valid problem though

did you check the Wastegate?

did you check the Wastegate?
not yet but i dont c y that would cause the idleing problem... im not exactly new to the turbo but im slightly undereducated about it... and this is my first turbod vehicle so im tryin to do stuff on my own to learn and get aquainted

i will check the wastegate and c if that is bad or somthing... just none of this makes sense to me right now lol

we say the wastegate because its a common problem and it does cause tons of problems for us MSP owners...is its not that it could be a dirty or bad MAP causing the airflow to be misread by the ECU

Bad wastegate will make your car run shitty...like a huge vac leak.

albeit I am not a mechanic, but I do know my way around the FS-DE (to a certain extent) and the common problems with the MSP, I don't think I have ever heard of a throttle positioning sensor on this car....(uhm)
like I said in the post above, I would check the WGA (just because you never know) and clean your MAF to see if it helps

don't clean your MAF with break cleaner, clean it with rubbing alcohol and make sure it completely dries

good precision...I think there is also a MAF cleaning solution that seems to work well...can't remember what it is though

Yea, i got the same problem as well and i cleaned my EGR twice in a row. can the EGR valve itself go bad? i took mine all apart and theres a little piece that screws into the middle of the EGR internally. it soesnt seem to seat tight when screwed in all the way and the threads that it screws into are plastic, possibly stripped for some reason. So i might get a new EGR valve somewhere....im going to check the wastegate first though. Can a EGR blockoff plate be installed?

yea at the part store they have maf cleaner or if they dont have that you can use electric part cleaner

I had a similar problems when my bpv got disconnected. I think it just a vacuum leak...do you have the stock ic pipes? If so...check around the bpv. It's as simple as that but takes abit of time to locate. Goodluck!

We've all been there man...find the vacuum leak, fix it and you'll love it again...guaranteed!! Well for atleast 2 more weeks anyway..lol!
Seriously though, if your running the stock IC pipes...do yourself a favour and replace them with hard pipes/silicone couplers and t-bolt clamps. I did and I've never looked back. Hang in there man!

hey nick, its brandon.. my car actually did that after i put it back together after we had it apart.. one of the couplers had a very tiny hole in it and it about threw me through the window (even with my seatbelt on) every time i got on it b/c of how bad it jerked.. just check all of the intercooler connections and everything else the people on here told ya to look at

i used to get a really rough idle and no turkey noise when my car had an exhaust leak, took it back to where i bought it a week earlier and they spent 1 hour finding the problem and fixed it for free.....the way i found that i had an exhaust leak was from looking under neath the car when it idled on a cold day (-0 or better) and i could see exhaust from under the engine
and yea if you check my post rigt about yours, my westgate just went and it sound similar to what you got
though i will note, even after all the little tune ups on my car and spendig alot of time reading these forums, it appears that almost everyone has a bit of a rough idle, personally it doesnt bother me cause it doesnt hold back my performance and i very seldomly come anywhere close to stalling and never have fully stalled so i just choose not tow orry about it.
*and yea i felt really down about the car a week after i bought it and it had the leak....but after i got it fixed and you hit a nice road on nice weather and really drive the car fast and hug those tight corners like nothing else youve ever driven....oh does it ever make it worth the work!

ok so heres the update... so i still have yet to check the wastegate but am goin to do that right now... i got underneath of my car today and found that i seem to have oil coming out of my turbo... from prior knowledge and wat i have heard it sounds to me that my turbo is shot... if so does anybody know wat would be the best for me to go with without having to build my engine and such? i will update again after i take everything apart today...

do you mean you have oil on the underside of your turbo? if so then its not the seals but your return line is leaking its not the end of the world your turbo isnt bad.

last thing i heard is he fixed his car and everything is good now. i think there was a crack in is intercooler piping. a member on the forums (sean22306) had his stock intercooler piping since he has hardpipes and gave them to nick (nkymsp) to put on. car runs great from what i hear

I am having the same issue and I have looked all over the piping, EGR(new), o2 sensors have been cleaned, and many other things have been done. I tested the diaphram in my WGA by blowing into it and it seemed fine. Is it possible that it could still be bad?

ya i did have a crack in my piping that took me forever to find... i found it and replaced it and it ran good for about 5 min. and then the prob. came back but was twice as bad... after looking over the car i noticed that there was a bolt at the bottom of the intercooler that was missing and allowing non stop boost to leak out... if your under the car looking at the back of the intercooler the bolt is right beside the cold pipe on the right of it... i replaced it and now she runs good idles good and no cut out. thats the prob. with our cars is that a million diff. things could go wrong and it would act the same way no matter whats wrong with it...lol you just gotta have patience and not give up on it.
