So, the opportunity came up, and the money was right, so I picked up two nearly-identical red NA's this week.

They've got a bunch of silly stickers on them, and I'd pull 'em off, but my two year old likes them so I guess they'll stay.

We had a nice day today, so we arranged to meet up with the local Mini and Lotus clubs, and went out.

First we needed gas, so we made a stop, ran across the street and took a picture from the top of a hill:

We met up with the other clubs at the park, and climbed the water tower to get this group shot:

Here's a couple from in the parking lot:

Then we rolled out. The Lotus guys had to head out to a wine and cheese thing, but the Mini guys wanted to go run around. The rest of these pictures were taken by Jeff, the guy with the sweet white Mini.

We found an empty one-way road, and I decided to take a run at the guy in the new red MINI. Fortunately, it wasn't a Cooper S, or he'd have owned me! Here we are about to go, with Jeff sitting behind my wife, ready to follow us down the road:

I got a good run on him, and was pulling further ahead:

...but unfortunately, the cops got us! Jeff hung back and took pictures, my wife passed by and gave me a nasty look.

Ok, so clearly I'm full of it! Anyway, I was kind of excited to find that they did make Mia and Tia toys for the Cars movie. I also wondered if they were actually licensed from Mazda, which they clearly are, as they say "Mazda MX-5 Miata on the bottom:

Completely identical, other than the "Mia" and "Tia" License plates.

Clearly I'm a dork, sorry if you feel I've wasted your time, but I thought it was fun! Also, I'm kind of happy to see actual MIATA toys!

we had a meet a while back in our house at the construction site. the site got something spilled on it though, so we had to wash it. now, all of the grip from the bottom of the city is gone and the ground is wearing out, so we had to scrap the whole city. our meets were mostly volkswagen, ferrari, and hummer meets with the occasional tonka dump truck ending them.

This is true. (hand)

I was hanging out with the kid and I'd wanted to get some shots of the Miatas for the forum, so I figured I'd make it amusing.

He's got a lot of cars:
5 Ferraris, the ones in this picture, plus another Enzo in Blue
2 Lotuses
1 Porsche
Saleen S7
STi
Aston-Martin
Daytona Cobra Coupe
Ford Shelby something, basically a concept new Cobra Coupe
Some modern and classic American Muscle, etc.
I took these before he got a bunch of trucks, too!

This shot has a few that I've picked up as an adult mixed in with his collection. The classic Mini, the black Miata, Jeepster concept, and the white escort Rally car are mine.

The 10 in the foreground here are mine from childhood:

Oh, and here's my Hotwheels-scale Mazda collection. I haven't decided if I want to pull those two out of the packages. I think I do, though.

That was pretty good. You really do need a Miata, Eric. :)

Classic!

Plus you showed that even street racing on your floor doesn't result in anything BUT bad news! :p

Those "CARS" toys are pretty cool :)

d00d.. I just saw this. Awesome. You know when you move back to the area I get to play too, right?

And I even loved the lesson in the end about getting busted for street racing.

This is the most entertaining story I ever read in car forum ;) Nice work with all the different angles for taking all those shots. And the story line is just great!
