This can't be that difficult. Boost gauge install

So why is it so difficult to get to the wiring to tap into to power the gauge. I have a Prosport Peak/hold gauge. Already have the T-fitting in place and sensor wire ran into the car. Now I need to find someplace to splice the wiring in to power the gauge. Where did you guy's tap into? I've read dimmer switch, cig lighter, fuse panel, and someone mentioned something in the battery tray. I pulled the 2 little side panels from the footwell, but how do you get the rest of the panels off to get to the cig and fuse box? The battery try is the easiest to get to, but I don't know what wires to tap into. I suppose I could just run the power and ground to the battery, but what about the white and orange wires? What do I tap those into? Prosport's instructions are useless!

In case you're thinking about tapping into wires instead of the fuse box, I got this from a thread on installing Defi BF gauges:

Blue/Red stripe = constant voltage, comes from battery

Orange = switched voltage, comes from ignition

Black/Yellow stripe = variable voltage, controlled by dimmer switch

Any thoughts on this as a reliable source to tap into?

Easiest thing to do is go to Autozone and buy some "Add-A-Circuits". These plug into the fuse connectors in your accessory fuse box under the glove box. Basically they piggyback off whatever accessory you choose and you don't need to cut anything. I'm doing this for my gauge now and it works fine and it's easy to run the wires across by removing the plastic kick panels.

That's what I ended up doing. At first I plugged into the wrong fuse and the gauge didn't power on. I freaked out a bit, until I noticed what fuse I plugged into. When the gauge came on when I turned the lights on, I realized it and changed fuse connections. It's working like a champ now.
