08 M3 w/ manual transmission.

Starting at an intersection when the street is slick; the DSC light comes on and I hear very loud banging. Not the ABS pulsing sound. There are 3 or 4 distinct bangs as I cross the intersection.

I am familiar with ABS and traction control and this does not behave the way I expect: I expect the RPM to be limited so that when the brakes are applied the engine speed would not be so mismatched as to make the sounds I'm hearing.

Trip to dealer for checkout?

your wheels could be hopping? even a slight hop in these cars because of the tight suspensioin and low pro tires it makes some sweet banging. feels like a 4 foot deep pot hole...4 in a row. lol. other than that i would say bring that shit to the dealer if it just happens. i know once myu DSC catches up it wont go about like 2500 until it finally grips and i speed up above "slippage"
