Well it all comes down to me wanting something different so I went this route. Went to a local hot rod exhaust shop and had them fab this up for me. My exhaust not consists of a Corksport Race Pipe, 3" Mandrel bent 14 gauge aluminum piping, a resonator and a 3" in 4" out Apexi N1 muffler. I had them install flanges at three different points. First one is attaching it to the race pipe, second one is midway back right before the piping heads up and over the rear suspension and the last flanges were installed right at the muffler. This cost a little bit extra of course but being able to remove it if I want is a nice feeling. I will try and get a sound clip up asap, my computer skills suck! Tell me what you think!

Better pics of the resonator?

BTW -- that right angle bend looks awfully tight, and I'm not a fan of the silver paint over the welds...that's generally a sign of shoddy welding.

I say go for the stealth look and paint the muffler flat black (not the tip).

Hahaha paint a 225 dollar muffler black? You get 90 degree bends for the most part no matter what. In defense to the welds I asked them to do that, the welds are top notch!

Damn I'm hatin'...my Apexi exhaust is only 2.5" and it goes under the axle. Niiiice.

550 complete, mandrel 3 inch is not cheap. All of the flanges add 75+ dollars to the price, you pay to have what you want I guess!

Aluminized steel is going to rust in a year or two. Just FYI.

Stainless would've been even more expensive, probably $700 or more.

Looks really good man. I'm not a huge fan of the Apexi sound as its a little high pitch for me. However, I'm all for people thinking outside the box and doing stuff their own way.....props man.

come on now.... aluminized steel is what comes on 95% of all cars and can last 10-15 years easy ! and the painted welds it the best idea he had. i did the same thing when i had my resonators removed. most shops dont use stainless welding wire, so it will rust VERY fast if left exposed. so the best thing to do is paint it with a good high temp paint, the stuff i used had ceramic in it and was good up to 1200 degrees !
exhaust looks nice man.... i like someone who does original stuff.
dont let the haters get to you.

Um no. They painted the welds to help with the rust. The quality of the welds looks pretty good, especially for a shop.

As for the aluminized steel not lasting, I have had old aluminized exhausts sit outside for years, without them majorly rusting.

Anyway, looks like a clean install.

I'm new to the boards and i want to know, is anything good if you didn't do it first? you seem to be the most pessimistic I've done better been there done that man i have ever seen. sorry if this is to forward thinking for you

I do like when people take the initiative and try new things. I've been around the block enough times with modifying cars to know when things have been done right/wrong.

All I'm saying is that the bend seems a bit tight, but that doesn't mean that he completely wasted his time.

No need to blow my OPINION out of proportion.

Can't wait for further progress, man. Takes cajones to try new things.

Only problem with that is the muffler hangs pretty low to not bounce on the body. I like the look of the tip nesteled up in that little cut out, not a huge muffler chilling back there.

^^ Not TRYING to disagree, and everyone is entitled to their opinion.... and mine is that I LOVE the look of a "drifter style" muffler. Cause I'm worried about the dealer throwing a fit, I might have the last two feet cutoff, add flanges, and mimic your setup for looks.

btw, your link didn't work. I wanna hear it!!
