So I am lookin on installing an exhaust on my 2.3 5 door. I've narrowed it down to either the Borla, the MazdaSpeed exhaust, or the hks. I dont want the ricey sound, i know it isnt going to be real throaty being a lil 4 cyl. Anyone have any suggestions? or should i go for somthing not on my list, like the vibrant.. price is a lil factor though... damn being poor!

not borla thats for sure, and mazdaspeed is really expensive but high quality
hks would be my choice, sounds pretty deep, and mellow not ricey at all

I'd recommend OBX exhaust if your into the JDM look.

i'd say go with magna from TRUBENDZ def the way to go cheap and sound the shit!!! here is a vid. check it out! (i changed the tip to a borla tip) didnt like the tip it came wit...)

im goin to try to get a nive video sometime this week if not Monday afternoon. it doesnt seem to loud for me for a daily driver is nice and deep but not loud. it actually sounds way better now that its broke in that video was the 1st day i got it.

alright! just got to work. i was crusing doing 55/60 and u can hear the exhaust! u can only hear oit if u try to go faster but as soon as u keep it steady u can hear anything. the only time u can hear it is when ur on the highway doin past 80 but its not annoying!

Thanks for the update. I just don't know witch CB I want to go with. I like the fact that the trubendz comes with a hi fo cat and the price is good for the money. have you seen prices for the mazdaspeed? i can't find it online anywhere, ive seen some clips on youtube, and it sounds pretty amazing... Do you know what the gains are about on it compared to the others? prolly all around the same i would assume

idk man i love the borla sound but my pocket ($$$) did not agree Trubendz was super cheap! and sound great (even thought i spent n extra 8- bucks on a nice borla tip bc i didnt like the trubendz one...)

Its a super easy install but you'll need to cut the stock exhaust. You can get an exhaust pipe cutter from autozone on their loan-a-tool program.
I bought it second hand (unused) from a member on another forum.

franco I'm not sure if they offer different mufflers for the Mazda 3 kits. if you log onto their website you can see that the focus kit have more opions.

With my focus I put the race header on and it made it a lot louder. you could hear me coming from blocks away. I'm not sure if it was the header or the fact that I didn't have any cats.

I just don't want it loud again. That's why I don't know what I want. I would like to hear something in person. you can't really tell on the videos there is on you tube. I can tell witch systems have the deep sound I like. I just can't tell if they are really loud or not. PC speakers don't tell the truth when it comes to loudness.

true same here! i took me a good 3 weeks of listening to you tube videos to make my mind up bc there's not many 3's actually no 3's stick with exhasut here. so i couldnt get an idea. but then trubendz offered me a good deal so i went with magna no questions asked! and i dont regret it i love it!

no i didnt go with the stainless steel. i went with the 2.5 all around. and yea i did notice increase in power mostly in second and third!

well i was always told that 2.5 was the best for out cars and that it would give it more power that the 2.25 i heard a hatch 3 with 2.25 and mine sounds deeper! so i lke mine better

alright bro here goes a true daily driving video! it was on my way to the dealership. u'll hear me speed up bc i had to pass a couple of cars.
i had the windows up A/C off and radio off. crusin at 60 most of the time.. had to take off kind of quick bc there was cars coming so i guess this could be the best so far as far as daily driving! hope you like it!

im doing about the same! i average around 23 and dats (drive2) high revs 70% of the time lol

thats cool. I noticed that I get more mpg when I use 91 from a good gas station. there is to many brands of exhaust and I guess that I just have to get one and live with it.

if you want good sound and affordable. Go magnfalow...corksport is a bit too expensive to me. Magnaflow or OBX exhaust. But is say go with mag. If you have money to spend on borla then get corksport, corksport has sort of an exotic sound...won't see too many cars on the road sounding like yours if you get corksport and protogegarage has free shipping. But for me 400 is still too much. you can get magnaflow for about 100$ cheaper.

I do know that I only want stainless. our cars come with stainless stock why down grade? Stainless will out last the car and the aluminum you will buying again in 4 to 5 years or so. my dad bought a used truck that someone had put aluminum doule pipes on and it didn't last. look at it this away if you want it to last and sound good spend the money and don't be a cheap skate. I am a form beleiver that you pay for what you get.

I am leaning towards the Corksport system. I like the sound, hp gain, and fact that it is not loud. I just don't know about taking off the cat. I have read that the 2nd cat don't do much anyways. Is this true and if it is goon can I still pass an emision test?
