Turbo Is Gone....

Happened two days ago. I first noticed the slow spooling so i stayed out of it. after i took a ride to Dulles airport and came back(about a 1hr 45min drive) I hear the the turbo trying to spool but its making the horrible noise until about 3500 rpms. I called my one of my friends up and asked him what he thinks it is and he said the turbo is on its way out. Sure enough I go to start my car last night all i hear is this terrible vibrating sound coming from the engine bay(near the rear it's almost like right behind the damn radio) so i let it warm up try to let it spool and the noise comes back and now Melinda(my car) only goes to 10psi....... I'm taking it back to the dealer this week but i heard russel can be assholes. wish me luck.....

Sounds like your bearings are shot, thus making the turbin contact the walls of the turbo... Ouch...

Sorry dude. How many miles do you have on the engine?
Do you have any mods? Have you had smoking issues?

I have never delt with russel, but there none of the dealerships like to warrenty this stuff anymore so make sure its back to stock cause they will find every excuse to deny you. what are you mods?

yea russel isnt fun from what i have herd too. hell Fitzgerald told me if i would of had my forge valve on the car when it came in Mazda would not have put a motor on my car after it threw a rod! over a lil thing that makes a lil noise! dealerships are great lol

nah you guys dont worry. I just have bad luck. They probably damaged the new one on install or something. It makes a loud taping noise at idle all in a sudden.

ok so heres the update....SHE'S DONE!!!!!! from what it sounds like and what my friend told she jumped timing. Stupid F****** Mazda used a tapered plug instead of treaded bolt on the crank. which means it can slide out over time. they have a fix for it but i dont know if my f****** dealer is gonna do anything about it. on a plus note i might have a new job opportunity, but it still sucks watching your baby get towed and sound like shit.

Its both the timing prob happened because of low oil pressure due to the turbo sucking up to much oil I believe(someone correct me if I'm wrong)

ok so my dealership called me today. they are saying that my car is modified so they aren't going to warranty it. They say that there is an oil leak externally on the turbo. he says it looks like the motor was ran with no oil then someone put oil in(didn't happen the turbo has been smoking so i kept putting oil in until my next change), They are complaining about the mount saying that i am using it for racing purposes, which he thinks i'm doing because my tires are bald....... He didn't believe me when i told him that my turbo was smoking i told him that there are alot of 07's that are doing this he said he hasn't seen them. I called mazda and maid a complaint and now all i can do is pray they fix it.

The dealership is insisting you are using your car for racing purposes because you have a stronger rear motor mount?

Shit my tires were bold after about 9000 miles hope they aren't assuming shit about me to.

If you're only mod is the rear motor mount (and Mazda obviously knows they were bad as there was a recall) then you should have no problem getting warranty to cover it. yeah usually all that happens is they call the dealership and ask them about the car and then the dealer gets pissed that you did that. what you should do in this situation is take the car into another dealer and tell them what is happening and then call Mazda.

If you need an engine give us a call we can probably get you a better deal than the dealer will.

Damn dude am really sorry to hear thats the treatment ur getting from ur dealer..but that's one of the reason why am not doing any more mods on my car..i did the cobb intake and the rear mount and i'll be damn if they tell me that that cause any major engine problem..
i already think i'm having a slight connecting rod bearing problem..before i did my firts oil change at 2700miles i was already down to about half way level on the dipstick..to me that shouldnt be normal on a brand new car turbo or non turbo..plus when i start up my car in the morning i hear like a funny bearing noise..a grrrrrr sound for like a quick 2 seconds..if u guys know engines especially turbo engines these things u should pay attention to..so this weekend again am gonna check my level to see where it and if its down on the stick am taking her in..

This car is fast and everything but too many lil issues popping up here and there for the cars been fairly new...i only have 3000 miles on her now..

It might be a problem. This is my first turbo car and my first mazda. Lil things like that I would ask my buddies and they would say don't worry about it. I'll just ask on here from now on because most of the people on here know what they are talking about

If you hadn't gone through the whole Mazda NA part already that is what you should have done because Moss Magnuson clearly would have covered you for warranty default over a motor mount and bald tires (maybe your tires are bald because your cheap they don't know) now your kind of screwed sadly. I worked for a dealership for a long time I know how to play that game. A different dealership tried not to warranty my trans because my truck was dirty and they said I was off-roading it but it was because I lived in a new subdivision so there was dirt and dust everywhere which turns to mud in rain go figure. Well I fought the hell out of that one and got a new trans then 5k miles later it shot out again and at that point I had an exhaust on it so they said that was the cause and I fought and won again, turned out dumbshits didn't flush the cooler so there was still burnt fluid in it.

well this is not my first turbo car so i know about this stuff..i had a turbo supra before fully moded ..3in exhaust from turbo back..bigger injectors fcon,bvp u name it..and i'll tell anyone this, talk about spining bearings this car was famous for that especially if ur boosting over 15lbs.
i also was a mechanic for 8yrs working on turbo cars..so am monitoring this baby..am paying enough money ready for this car, for them to hand me some bullshit if the car breaks and its not my fault and not wanting to warranty it..

Mazda gave me a new motor when I threw a rod at 29k miles with my test pipe installed, they replaced my rear end with CAI, CBE, and MM and BOV installed. And now they are giving me a new turbo and transmission with all parts still on my car (CAI, catless DP, exhaust, FMIC, BOV, MM ....basiclly all the bolt ons)

no not at all. I'd be lying if I said that haven't gotten in it but I always followed the cool down procedures, changed the oil when needed, and kept the right amount of fluids in it.

.....yea with all thats happened I'm going ahead and purchasing the extended warantee from them also. I figure why not if they'll fix the car with all my mods on!

...it went in initially for the smoking issue, so they are giving me a new turbo. while I was there I mentioned that the tranny would throw itself out of second gear durring 99% of downshifts if I didnt manually hold it in. but i didnt think anything would come of it since the car has 40k miles and transmission/ clutch is a wear and tear item. well a couple hours later that day they called me to inform me that I had been approved for a new transmission under warantee as well.
