34 mpg on highway in '02 automatic

Took a trip to a conference this week and averaged 34mpg in my 2.0L automatic... 95% interstate. The sticker mpg indicates 31 mpg for highway. My average speed was between 60 and 65mph.


I am pleasantly surprised given that this car "revs" so high.

My "interstate" driving usually has speeds north of 70 mph. The speed limit here in Colorado on the interstates outside of the metro areas is 75, so 80ish isn't unheard of. At those speeds, my mileage in my automatic is a pathetic 22-24 mpgs. If I keep the speeds down, mileage goes up.
