Had someone at a decal shop make them for me. I kinda like how the 2008.5 one has the logo right there (albeit on the gloss black trim), so I thought I'd see how it looks on my 2007. Here's the real deal:

Actually it isn't....the trim piece is not straight at the bottom. I applied it to be parallel with the ground.

Yep, those are the factory rubber mats. They're for the regular 3 and the Speed3.

I think he meant that those are the OEM ALL-SEASON mats. Which in that case there are only the Mazda3 ones, not a specific version for the speed.

In any case, I would not want those rubber mats. I mean do they really work in snow and or rain? Do they absorb any water at all, or does the water just sit on the rug?

They prevent the nasty water and snow from going into the carpeted floormats. They do actually work, but I only plan on using those mats in winter.


The mats came with the car when I bought it...and they were part of the recall for the gas pedal hooking under them on the Speed3. There's no such thing as a Speed3-specific all-season mat -- they're simply the regular 3 mats.

i dont care about the MS logo. But im loving that black trim (Piano Black) a lot.

The regular 3 in japan is being sold with some Speed3 accesories, like the flotating rear wing. Piano black accents, chromed door handles, MP3 BOSE HU and alluminium pedals.

It may be possible to whip up some kind of template/stencil to align the sticker...I'll see what I can do. Mewonders how much interest there would even be for this. Could be cool to color match it to the paint you have (white, black, red, silver, blue, etc.)

I would buy it too...but not body color. I want it in red to match the seats and floor mats. Damn (scratch), would that be too much Mazdaspeed in the cabin already...?

Yah - the more I see the Piano Trim the more I don't care for it. It just sticks out way too much and looks very plastic to me. Personal Opinion of course, but I will stick with my Trim thanks.

I think a nice brushed aluminum or maybe even a good carbon fibre weave would've looked nice. Maybe they could've done it as optional customer-installed parts that can snap in?

The MS3 Extreme concept had those areas actually color matched to the body IIRC.



But to get back on topic here...

I don't really adjust my seat all that much to validate power seats.

Does anyone know of currently manufactured after market CF piece exists for that one panel? I like the 07/08 silver interior bits, but I really am not a fan of the faux black wood strip that goes along and above the glove box. I actually liked the faux carbon fiber in my MSP better that bordered the radio/temp. controls.

That stinks...oh well, maybe i'll just order the 8.5 piano black piece w/out the mazdaspeed logo if at all possible from my dealer and swap out the old faux wood piece...

No you aren't. I thought I would love the piano black trim, but I detest it. The mix of gray matte plastic and glossy black looks odd to me. I also thought I would love the alacantra inserts in the seats, but I don't love them either.

^ I just feel like it would take me an extra 15 minutes of cleaning just to get the fingerprints off of the black. Not to mention, avoiding scratching the black would be hard too.

After seeing a few pictures of the interior, I think it looks good with the colors they offer now. It would look awful in a Cosmic Blue IMO though, not enough contrast inside the car, too much darkness. Really, the only thing I wish I had from the new 08.5 is the small emblem on the inside. But even then, it is already on the gauges, seats and door sils.

But yeah, I would totally buy one if a mass amount was produced.
