I was just wondering if both brands and both types of intakes have places for both of the sensors on the protege intake.
The air measurement sensor doesn't seem hard to put in the intake because u just keep that one piece of the stock intake and put it in the new one, as I've seen done many times but the other sensor, which I don't know the name of, that is located in the air box above the filter which is used to tell the comp the temp. of the air being sucked in, does either brands and intakes have a place for this second sensor to plug in at?
I am currently getting that second sensor replaced and I did have a half stock intake(detach air filer box and replaced with a filter from a parts store) but that left that second sensor with no place to go. This resulted in not getting enough fuel to my engine.
So basically, I wanna buy an intake but not if there isn't a place for both sensors.
Thanx much

i have the aem short ram intake (manuel) it has places for the maf and iat. I dont think theres three sensors. Kunda confused hea
Nvm. Yea it has a hole for the temp sensor. Im pretty sure injen has the hole also cuz both the aem and injen is vehicle specific and just not some ebay do it ur self intakes.

I'm sorry if my first post implied there were 3 sensors, I meant only two.
So you've had no problems with the sensors since you upgraded ur intake?
Whats your opinion on your intake?

no problems with either sensor. I like my intake. Not sure about the injen but im sure that one is better considering the price. I would also prefer a cold air intake but i cant mount it into my fender well cuz i cant use the splash guards.
Either way with injen or aem u cant go wrong. Noticed minimal gains from the intake but it sounds great.

What do u mean you can't use the splash guards?
I want a cold air but I heard its very easy to splash water onto them and suck in water. Where I live it does rain much but, when it does its usually a lot and also, there are a bunch of dips and what not, resulting in many little places for puddles of water.

i had to remove my splash guards because om my rims and drop. By splash guard i mean those big pieces of plastic under the fender wells. As long as u have those in place u shouldnt have any worries about rain.

Oh damn. ahaha.
I know what you were talking about, I just didn't know what u meant when u mentioned them.
Well......
I HAD splash guards...
eh.
When I got my bc2 kit put on, it was put on by lamos with a bunch of screws and a philips screw driver. I shortly after took a trip on the freeway and my splash guards detached from my bumper and rubbed against my tires that were rotating at 80+ miles an hour for about 45 mins or so...
They're still shredded in pieces under my fender =[

heh just dont go through 3ft water that fast. u might wanna try looking at a AEM bypass valve if ur getting a cai.

i think injen has a thing u can put on as well if u get. that one looks like a sock.if i were u, i'd get a sri just to be safe but if u really want a cai, just know that there is a chance u can actually hydrolock ur engine.

Thanks for advice.
After realizing that I don't even half splash guards to protect the filter, even if I do go slow through water I could still get it wet if I have to do it more than once in one day, I probably will go for the short.
That was awsome how you put that, "hydrolock"
lol, I've never heard it put that way before. All the guys I know say "fuck up your engine" or something along those lines.

Is there much difference in the sound you get from a CAI and a SRI?

i think both will sound about the same cause ur getting rid of the stock air box. either way, which ever way u go, it'll still sound awesome from what i hear xD

Does that essentially mean that the SRI is only their for sound purposes? Would you say it's worth it or not to spend 200+ w/minimal gains? I was thinking of getting the AEM SRI, and trying to do some research on it. Do you have just the intake or did you pair it up with any other exhaust upgrades? Thanks for your input.

Check his sig...
He doesn't have a SRI....
Anyhow can't justify $200+ for an intake. But like i said earlier you can't go wrong with an AEM or Injen Intake. They are specifically built for your application and isn't just some put together pipes and go intake.
Yes with just the intake you will notice "very" minimal gains. But put it together with a header and exhaust and you will feel the improvement. If you want to feel gains just from either Intake/Header or Exhaust. a full cat-back exhaust will give you the most gains. But when all three are paired together that's when you can really tell the difference. Each part compliments the other.

lol i'm gonna get one eventually. haha been doing research too xP but yea i read that SRIs give more throttle response. in one dyno i saw that the SRI gave more torque and the CAI gave more HP. kinda interesting. saw it a while back but i think the thread's pics are all dead...

808MP5,
Thanks for the response and input. Quite informative. So I guess if anything, I would start first with the full catback exhaust and then proceed with the intake and header?
When you say full catback exhaust... do you mean something such as the Racing Beat catback exhaust system? This doesn't include the midpipe right?
