what rear mount do you have? and does the intercooler whack your windshield cowling on hard shifts?
I have the SU mount and it does. Just wondering if there is someone with a mount that is stiffer but still "well behaved" that will solve this problem.

A dude I work with just got the same intercooler and we're going to try the dog bone poly on his. hopefully that will work. if it does and it's not too terrible with the vibrations, I'll be getting that.

I have the 3.25 core and a TRZ Poly and mine did whack on hard 2nd gear shifts... I had to slightly bend down the corner. I was supposed to get a redesigned plate...but never got one. I just modified mine slightly and no issues.

no possible way I'm getting delrin inserts. I drive this car daily. it's not a race car, it's a grocery getter.

I'm thinking I'll probably do this. it still seals well?

this is my attempt at an "appropriate" thread. how mundane.

I think ppl trim the back part of it shroud thing and it's fine...I'd try that before getting a new mount.

prior to upgrading my mount, my ETS intercooler would smack me in the forehead. Over time I've developed a pronounced cranial ridge making me a prime candidate if ever there's a remake of Quest for Fire.

any pictures of what you have done to combat this issue would be appreciated! I'm not sure what people are talking about when they say trim the plastic part.

I think our mount design is pretty sub par. I have the AWR because my stock mount was so bad at times when I shifted too fast from 1-2 or 3-4 I would grind slightly. I swapped out my stock mount for the AWR and it was good for awhile, but now that that mount is broken in every once in awhile the same will happen. Obviously if the engine is lashing around or is not at the proper angle while shifting that is going to affect shifting performance. The engine might be tweaked enough so that the shifter cable cannot extend into gear fully or engage the gear properly.
With that being said just modify the plate on the TMIC, or get a rear mount that will help.

the stock mount is like tying the thing up with twine. it's terrible. I think the more my current mount breaks in, the worse it is going to get. I'm hoping to see the dogbone do better.

i think people have trimmed the metal part that goes around the IC, not any plastic parts. Can you see marks where exactly it's hitting?

I mounted my 3.5 ETS with out shroud. Only issue was a light rub from the right front corner on under side of hood. Coerced a sharp edge and all is well. Shroud seal plate was in need of a refinish. No motor mount installed but I will purchase that also, for shift quality, along with some of engenears how tos. I will decide about plate when temps return to something reasonable

I mounted mine with the Shroud of Turin. Some would argue that it's heresy but they don't know that Jesus has 4 times the cooling power of aluminum.

I trimmed 1/4" off the back of the aluminum shroud. No problems after that.
