So I'm thinking of buying the CF Vented Hood, but I'm not a fan of having a hood thats a different color than the car. Is it possible to paint carbon fiber? It gets pretty cold here in the winter and warm in the summer if that matters.

Ok. I only asked because I've read about guys not painting it because it warps in the extreme cold and the paint may crack

oh and i wouldnt recoment it tho, because most carbon hoods have like a wavy texture to it and there not exactly 100% straight like the stock hood, unless ur lookin to spend alot of money on a really good one, i would just suggest u leave it cf, it makes u have alot of attention lol
when i put mine on, u should have seen how many people were staring me down just cruising around

Damn..beat me by a second..LOL!
actually looks more like a minute lol

thats why it gets sanded and primed before painting.(confused)

yea but idk maybe its cuz mine was a cheap one ($99) but i dont think sanding and priming would make it smooth, at least mine lol
any other one, have at it but u would pretty much be wasting some money cuz carbon fiber is pimp in direct sunlight lol

thats why it gets sanded and primed before painting.(confused)Yeah no doubt...and a decent hood may look wavy in the weave,,but will still be smooth to the touch...Which is what matters when painting./

Have no fear painting CF...Its like anything else you would or could paint.

CF usually cracks because the resin will get exposed to the weather and crack after a while. if it is sealed, it will act just like fiberglass. you may eventually see the resin sink down into the weave, but not for a while.

Thanks for the info guys. I knew nothing about CF so I wanted to make sure...and I like the way that CF looks too but I'd prefer it to match the car...or at least be close to the same color. I've also thought about getting part of the hood painted and leaving some unpainted...kinda like this.

But I dont know how well it'll turn out with red...

I had a CF hood on my MZ3 and had the sides painted similar to the pic above. Nothing special to do it just make sure you use a quality ship... Best bet is to get a pic of a red Speed6 with a CF hood and have someone photoshop what it would look like with paint...
