Based on your experience, what's the best fuel to use on a CX-7?

I have 3 top tier fuels in my area; Chevron, Shell & Texico. I can't tell the difference from one brand to the next. I favor Chevron because of the excellent fuel system cleaner additive (techron) in Chevrons fuel.

I use Sunoco cause it's my local gas station and you can get the 94 octane.
Erhayes, do you ever use Chevron's injector cleaner with techron that is somewhat expensive (compare to something like STP)?
I've used BP Amoco, Shell and Speedway (all 93 octane). I sometimes feel that Shell offers smoother acceleration

as with any higher compression or turbocharged vehicle, the highest available octane fuel should always be used. running lower octane fuel will cause the vehicle computer to cutback horsepower and you will notice power loss.

I am not a big fan of using a fuel system cleaner additive if I am using Chevron gasoline. I'll use the additive maybe once every 10,000 miles.

What's the difference between fuel injector cleaner and the fuel system cleaner? We don't have Chevron around here. Does it hurt the catalytic converter? Does it keep the injecters clean? Thanks.
Mazda does NOT recommend any additives. Personally, I prefer Marathon (93 premium) here in Michigan.

Is ethanol a good additive?

No ethanol kills your MPG!

To Chris41. Techron fuel system cleaner is more concentrated and supposedly helps keep combustion chambers clean in addition to injectors. Mazda does not recommend any additives. However there are so many fuel cleaners on the market and some may be hameful or do no good so Mazda makes that the blank statement. Techron is an additive in Chevron & Texaco fuel like Shell now has their own additive in there top grade 93 octane. Like I said before I only use it every 10,000 miles or so and probably don't need that as long I use a top-tier fuel always.

HI Guys,
I've follow this thread because I'm interested.
So I have the following question: Is any one here use Gas from SAM'S club?
How about the fuel quality and additives?
I've try today to aks the manager @ sam's gas station what additiv they are using and what should be the difference between their gas and Shell or Chevron. Unfortunately he couldn't answer my question.
I found out they get their gaz from Oklahoma tank lines. Any one knows about this company and what additives they are using.
Until now I use to take for my CX-7 premium from Sam's club. A little bit cheaper that other gaz stations since I'm member don't know if this is fine for my engine.
Any one to answer my questions
Thanks in advance

Sams club & Walmart (Murphy) use the same fuel supplier I believe. My Walmart has an Additive Dispensing gaget on the gas pump. If you want the cleaning additive you must pay extra of ~ $2.00? per tank. I choose to use Murphy gas (93 octane) without the additve about every 2d or 3d fill up. The other fill ups are a top tier fuel like Chevron, Shell or Texico.

Top Tier (http://www.toptiergas.com/retailers.html)
My local gas station carries 110 Racing fuel at the pump, I always put 93 3/4 of the tank and the the rest in 110octane racing fuel, no problems so far, the other day I had full my tank with 91 and it suck, performance was crappy.
Just in case is a CITCO Gas Station

CITGO is evil. At least if you buy gas elsewhere it has to go through several channels to fund other countries. CITGO goes straight to Venezuela.

Citgo in my town is about 8 cents higher per gallon for all grades. I think they do not want customers like me and give their buddies big discounts. Maybe the Citgo stations are "Fronts" for othe illegal busniess otherwise why price their gas so high.

sunoco, valero, marathon, arco, are companies that do not support middle east oil so I prefer not to fund terrorist organizations and I try to buy fuel from them, I dont believe in all the techron jargon
all the big oils Mobil, Chevrontexaco, shell, are involved in middle east operations, I just own their stocks, but do not purchase their product
With the prices on gas going UP, I might have to sell my CX-7 in a year and buy a GOOD (hopefully nice looking hybrid)
I remenber on 1998 when with $14 filled my Dodge neon tank with 93octane, now my sister haves the car and she's putting almost $30 with 87 octane fuel.

Think yourselves lucky!........over here in Oz, it would cost her $70 to fill it.
Our grades are :
Unleaded 91 octane..........................$1.30-50 Litre
Premium Unleaded 95 octane...............+ 6c Litre
Ultra Premium Unleaded 98 octane.......+ 12c Litre

Just remember octane ratings are different in the US.
I believe 98 Octane in Oz is 91 or 93 in the US.
