Let's see some pictures, the GF's new Mazda5 is giving me the itch for something new to drive. The 3 5-door is looking like it might be on the short list, prior to the 5 and this forum, I've never really looked at them. Just want to see how good they can look.

i have to agree these cars are so much fun to drive. they have a little kick to them and handle actually quite well for a FWD car and with a little work they will handle even better.

They look good, there were 3's all over central Indy this weekend, or I just drove a lot. I have to agree with you guys about the Sunroof. Its one of the few options, I've been looking for, that and a 5MT. Not many of either in the area with the miles I'm looking for. Oh well, I can wait, and keep the 4x4 until the weather gets better anyway.

If you're looking to buy new (fresh off the boat), the best time to do it is early/mid-Spring. When I got around to ordering my 07 in July 06, the dealer allocations were already locked for all but port options... There was a 3-dealer trade involved to get what I wanted ("all the fruit" minus nav.)
Took delivery on my birthday, no less (alright)

Thanks for the compliments everyone. This has been such a fun car for me!
The color is Sunlight Silver Metallic. Its a lighter color than the Titanium Grey. I have a hard time keeping track of all the colors, lol. I think Mazda has added or replaced some of the colors since 2004.

where did you get the grille and front lip at

I got it from a place called nextmod. click here (http://**********************/index.php?topic=95325.0) for info. The grille is an AutoExe replica and the lip is a Garage Vary replica. The grille fit well but the lip didn't so I ended up molding it to the body to make it look better. If you end up getting one I would definitely do the same.

You'll have a hard time w/ Phantom Blue. When I ordered my car in 06, I changed my color choice to Aurora Blue since I didn't want to wait a minimum of 3 extra months.

According to the dealer, the assembly line was putting orders for PB on-hold as they didn't want to overproduce that color. Apparently, it isn't one of the more popular choices...

Don't recall seeing either, so I couldn't say if they're nice colors or not. I know pictures tend to not do the metallics justice--time of day and weather factor heavily in how good they look. Also, the Mazda USA webpage is an even worse point of reference. >.>

Not a problem, going to try to stay in the Indy area if possible. don't care either way about Leather or really a color (everything I've owned since 16 has been black(now 32)). really just a sunroof, MT would be nice, never had an AT, but the GF can drive an AT, not a MT so its a bonus either way I guess.

the local Mazda Dealer site is horrible, they have all the new cars listed, no colors, but its a mile down the road.

Sorry for the delayed reply. I have an aftermarket lower motor mount as well as I/H/E, springs, sways, and short shifter. But that doesn't take me out of STS. The motor mount can't be solid and it can't have a higher ratio of metal to rubber than a stock one. That's what I get from reading the rules anyway.

Thanks. I get that a lot and they do hide dirt and brake dust much better than to silver OE's. But actually, I'm back to the stock grill for now. That too could change... again.
I know you said you couldn't deal with the white, but I gotta' tell you, it really helps hide the dirt more than you might think. Muddy splashes are one thing and do show up, but if you don't get to wash the car every week, regular road dirt and dust, as well as dings are pretty well hidden and it still looks good for a while. You'd be surprised.
BTW: I have the Vibrant exhaust and highly recommend it.

I can't really speak on the wiring part cause I had help from j naoto.(forum name) While he was doing the wiring part, I did the filter conversion kit along with the oil change. From the looks of it, the wiring part didn't seem that difficult.

They are the sportlines. I think that it lowered it more than what the specs say. but yeah i do need to get rid of the badges. I will always love the white on black look.

tein s-tech, nokya french fogs, and thats it to broke right now. But i have a list which should be done by august. 18's, fujita, exhaust (not sure what) 5% tint, 10 mm spacers in rear 8 mm is front (so flush with the fenders), new grill and carbon fiber hood. maybe light weight pulleys but that might just be a waste. any other ideas or anything you disagree with?

i'll be getting the cf hood as well. just make sure on the grille, you don't have to cut into the lower bumper, i'm not sure if you even have to on your year. personally i like the original mazdaspeed open mouth grille or the autoexe grille. if you get 18's with the right amount of offset you shouldnt have to worry about spacers. my wheels are perfect flush with the fenders and they are a +45 offset in a set 17x7.5.

yeah, the gap isnt too bad with the fenders, but the front bumper looks goofy. i think i just need to do some fiddling with the alignment and should be good to go. pictures don't show up :(. i hate work e-net.

One thing i wanted to do when i did have my cf hood was get a cf spoiler too ... at the time they didn't have one available for the Raven wing i have currently on my car but carbon creations actually makes a cf wing just like my raven wing ... i think on your car it would look real good with the cf hood ... wish they had full car pictures though ... here check it out .......

Spoilers are not useless on FWD cars. They are useless on FWD street cars driven at legal speeds but SCCA racers know the benefits of a spoiler on a FWD car. To say they are completely useless is incorrect.

I have to agree w/both of you... and also disagree.
I agree that the rear spoiler adds nothing but asthestics. Even that it may make the rear window dirtier faster, but also that the car is "missing something" w/o it.
Also that the Speed rear wing has the potential to be useable as an aerodynamic device, but for me it took some getting used to. At first I thought it too big and gawdy, but it's grown on me.
I've considered removing the rear wing on my own HB, largely based on your having done it, and spoken about it often, Kane. But after seeing the Canadian GS series HB from several POV in pictures, I really like the car with the wing. And afterall, how often do I drive over 80mph to make use of an aerodynamic of that proportion work for me?

Well then, those flimsey, cheap, not to mention mounted too low side moldings aren't going to help. I had more people scraping mine before I took the molding off. I stressed over that for almost 2 yrs before I did mine. Now I wouldn't have it any other way.
