What is it for over here? I thought we can have 35% lol
I run 70%, cops haven't cared so far but it's so light where it's more of a UV protector and boy does it help!

what is your suspension setuP?
Mazdaspeed lowering springs for the Mazda 3 (Eibach Pro-kit equivalent), Yellow Koni Sport adjustable shocks/struts, Mazdaspeed rear camber arms, and Racing Beat swaybars on both the front and rear with Racing Beat endlinks up front and OEM Mazdaspeed 3 rear endlinks.
And Erika, I got the grille off of ebay from Kakumei Motorsports. Check out post #221 on this thread:

That post should answer most of your questions! I really like it. It makes mine different from everyone else's 3 around this part of Nebraska. Just gotta be different I guess!

So how is the ride quality with those Koni adjustable shocks and the MS3 springs?
Surprisingly, really good!! I was expecting the ride to be super-stiff so I left my Koni's on the softest setting and have since dialed the fronts up 1/2 a turn to a stiffer setting. It's only a little bit stiffer (as far as feeling the bumps in the road) of a ride than stock. I'm very pleased with the way it rides and especially handles. Those Racing Beat sways are 247% stiffer than stock! Corners sooooo much better than it did before! Doesn't lean at all, it just goes!(2thumbs)
BTW, the springs are NOT MS3 springs. They are Mazdaspeed accessory lowering springs for the Mazda 3. They lower the car a bit more than stock MS3 springs.

Love the lip too! Really liked the way it looked on Tigermack's 3. Was wondering what it would look like with an open mouth grille--now I know! Sweet!!
Lowering springs next?! That'll look mean as hell! Nice ride!(2thumbs)

BTW: How do you like your Sparcos, and did you have the SAB option on the car originally? If so, how did you manage to deactivate it? Just curious, really. The chances I go to decent AM seats is slim.

[QUOTE=xsists;4841571]Stalker: Is that a stock grill on the Aussie version of the 3?QUOTE]
Yep, like bbrich57 mentioned, that is the stock grille for the Mazda 3 Maxx sport (essentially the Mazda 3i in the US). The Mazda 3 SP23 and MPS3 have different grills, which are essentially the same as the US equaivalents - I think.
I personally am not a fan of the grill, but I don't really dig the aftermarket options out there either. =(

Thats AWESOME!! No problems towing that much weight? I was going to put a hitch on my 3 to tow my 4 wheelers but didn't think it could handle that much weight..
No problem at all. We towed both bikes 1400 kms each way (2800 total), through the mountains, up hills and down hills.. in 70 mph zone without ever going under the speed limit.
Power and brakes were not an issue at all. Starting from a stop while on a steep hill was - certainly not good for the clutch.. but those situations can be avoided/minimized.
If you are interested.. the measured tongue weight of this setup was 178 lbs (before adding the cooler) to the tongue.
My bike weighs a hefty 448 lbs wet, and hers is 432 lbs (880 lbs of bike) plus the weight of the trailer (estimated between 300-400?) - the bikes were weighted on a motorcycle scale at Wheelers performance while on this vacation.
If your 4 wheelers are in the same ballpark for weight, I'd go for it.

Dual Exhaust? or is that a photoshop?
For the time being it's photoshop, but in the spring I am going to add dual exhaust to the car.
I like the look.
I don't think it's gonna be too difficult.
It is only going to take a "Y" pipe and some straight pipe somewhere along the line.

hey guy i Love your whole set up..!!
those wheels look mean. but anyways, i was wondering if you could tell me where you got those Windor Visors, ive been looking everywhere for them but they're extrememley pricey for such a small mod.
thnx
should be able to find the stick on ones on ebay for around $40. the JDM ones are slimer and give it an OEM look and they are also stamped with Mazda and those can be had from jdmgoodie.com for $100+.
Since your in WI franky, check at farm and fleet or at cap connection/any truck store. They should be able to order them for you.

Every once in a while I think about painting my calipers, but I don't know what color I'd paint 'em that'd look best with Copper Red Mica. (dunno)

Just that the '07s are probably the most reliable of all the model years for the 3, generally speaking of course, based on a few different sources of information (Consumer Reports, TrueDelta.com, etc.). (I have no knowledge about your specific M3H so the above statement applies only to model year 2007 M3H's as a group.)
If it hasn't already been done, you can probably unlock the Driver Information System (DIS) in your factory stereo. Search the How-To section for.. well, how to.
Gas mileage averages ~22 City and ~30 Highway, but as always Your Mileage May Vary (TM).
The paint is very thin. Treat it with care and respect (i.e. no tailgating, wash it at least once/week (no exceptions) (touchless automatic car washes only, otherwise hand wash with quality products and don't let the wash mitt touch the ground), fix paint chips promptly even if it's just with the "nail polish" factory touch-up paint (hint: use a round toothpick instead of the supplied brush), etc.) and it will reward you by looking awesome. (thumb)
Being three years old, I'd be surprised if it still has the original tires (Goodyear Eagle RS-A's), but if it does and you drive in the snow, seriously consider investing in some Winter or Performance Winter tires mounted on steel rims, 'cuz the RS-A's SUCK on anything that isn't both warm (>50º) AND dry. It'll probably run you ~$650 but IMO it's well worth the improved performance and peace of mind. After all, the tires are the only part of the car in contact with the road.
Oh.. And welcome to the forums! (hi)

dude its a rim it gets abused every day on the rd so it cant stay nice forever, material things dont matter the car still puts out on the street and runs strong....i was focusing on the fact that theres drilled and slotted rotors on that pic rims, eh who cares about umm
xsists
03-29-2010, 11:03 PM
If "material things" don't matter, why are you showing off your rotors?
You do know that drilled rotors are not good right? You run a risk of cracking between the holes. Slotted only is better than drilled and slotted and blanks are actually better. I seriously doubt you need the "cooling" or drilled/slotted rotors on the street.
I agree completely with bbrich57, I would consider re-painting the wheels.

Well, I posted pictures of my Mazda 3s MANY MONTHS AGO and I guess I made changes to my Photo Bucket link.
Here are some new pics of my 2008 Mazda 3s Grand Touring Hatchback with a lil over 28k miles on it.

Nice ride Vaku. I still wish to add a few things to my '08. I need to get a flash done to mine. I also need to find some very strong brake pads so I could take mine out for road racing. I also wish to get a Borla cat back exhaust. I wish to keep "MY MAZDA" from sounding like a ricer. No offense to anyone. I can't stand those nasty sounding Hondas out there. (yupnope) (drive2) (help) I've had 2 Infiniti G35 Sedan and love the deep sounding exhaust those 3.5L V6s had. Not to mention the power they put out.
I have to hold back on my money since a very good friend of mine is about to build his own body shop with very strong and powerful clients. That is where I will be able to have by own professional detail shop.

I have been looking at some different Drag rims online and the gold rim's photos look like a wierd gold. Did you do anything to the color of your rims?
Im guessing it just the photos online but just making sure.

I didn't do anything extra to the color of the wheels. They are kinda lightish gold kinda a hint of tan too but I like the way they look.

Alright thanks for the info. Yeah I cant decide if i want to go with gold or a darker color like a charcoal for gunmetal. Im looking at either the drag dr - 34 or something like that. ahhhh soo many choicesss. (bang)

The ride/handling is fine, but could be better. The ride is good but I would like more grip. I am probably changing the look all together but right now its too soon to tell. As far as selling them, I'll keep you in mind if I decide to.

I don't have a Sat. Antenna. If you're referring to the Sharkfin Antenna, it has been doing great. Can pick up signals from the Killeen area here in Austin and occasionally a couple San Antonio stations as well if the conditions are right, weather-wise. I love it and it adds a unique look to the car.

Well, my GT is wired for Sat BUT, I did not like Sirius when I bought my Mazda. With the two Infiniti G35s I've had, they has XM. NOW, the two companies have merged, ugh. I just need to go to my dads Ford Lincoln Mercury dealership and order a Sirius deal and put it inside. I liked that cover since you do not need to have that antenna pole pocking outside the vehicle. lol

Again, lookin' pretty sweet...
I really like how it looks w/o the door side moldings. Adding that to my to-do list. :D
Thanks.
Installed the new tip today ill post pics after the hid install (dont want to spam this thread). I pretty much did every dumb way to remove the tip possible. It was spot welded on the top and bottom. I used a dremel and cut around the spot welds and removed the tip then a chisel and hammer to knock off the remaining welds..sounds easy but i used about 10 cutting wheels for the dremel lol.

Had a blast yesterday at my first autocross in the rain! Got my 3 into a drift (not intentionally) coming out of a turn. While sliding, I had the wheel cranked all the way to the right. I was thinkin' to myself, "Alright, that's all I've got. I sure hope it catches quick!" It did and the rear end whipped back the other way a little. I quickly countersteered and continued on my way! Cool thing about it was that a guy (David Cosseboom--his website: www.gotcone.com), taking pictures of the event, caught the first part of it on "film"...

WHAT?! You won the ST class? Congrats!! Tell me there were no Civics there. I'm having trouble getting above 5th out of 8..
Please let me know your setup.
Btw, I like the "Intimidator" numbering and plate..

Yeah, you're right...There were no civics there. I presume, you being from Wisconsin, you were thinking of this guy in particular who comes down here to Nebraska a couple times a year and kicks everyone's butt...
http://i731.photobucket.com/albums/ww317/ntimd8r/img_0504.jpg
He was there for my first autocross in July of last year where I finished last out of 5 (he won, of course). Since then I've competed in four more, winning every one. No civics since the first but I've competed against P5's, Focus ZX3's, Escort ZX2's, Toyota Celica's, and an Alfa Romeo. So I guess, me winning is no big deal.
I do feel I'm a much better driver now than I was at my first meet so I'm anxious for that guy from Wisconsin to come back so I can see how I stack up. I don't expect to beat him, that's for sure, but to at least finish respectably close to his time.
BTW, here's all the mods I've done to my car. I just cut and pasted my MS word file. The majority of them are appearance mods but you can pick out the important setup stuff on your own (sorry, I'm lazy!)...

Oh, and thanks for the comments on the "Intimidator" numbers and plate! In case you couldn't tell, I'm I huge Earnhardt fan! (Duh!) Don't really feel worthy enough to run his number on my 3 but as long as I keep winning...Or at least until the Civics show up!

Yeah that guy tears up SCCA Milwaukee here. He was there for my very first autox this year and he got 2nd. The other Civic (also an EF) that is up here wins everytime. It runs in pro class AND in ST. Two weekends ago it took 2 trophies in pro and one in ST (had two drivers in ST but only one trophy). Otherwise the newer SIs are pretty quick around the track with minimal mods. I'm hoping my times will improve with a set of sways and some new tires (going with star specs on a 16x7 wheel). I also am not expecting to WIN the class, just expecting to be a little more competitive. When I was 5th out of 8 I beat a ZX2 and a Celica and one other car that I forgot what it was.
Again, congrats and keep on winning!

? Intake should only put you in ST. I'm in ST and I have intake, exhaust, springs and 7.5" wheels..
Some new pics...yes I know they look odd. I took them in raw mode on the DSLR and messed with the exposure\vibrance\blacks..maybe some might like it.

I'm in the market for a 2nd hand 3 GT Sport right now but red wasn't on my short list of paint colors. These pics changed my mind though, your ride looks awesome! What size rims/tires are you running? They look so wide, are you having any issues with rubbing?

I haven't seen too many (any??) copper red cars with bronze wheels so I thought I'd give it a try.

Fresh duplicolor bronze on my ms3 wheels. I also got some new Hankook Ventus V12's in 225/40/18 installed not too long ago.

Thanks man. I do love the color. I think I am getting a pro kit soon. I thought about going lower (roadmagnet 1.75") but I live on a dirt road and it is my DD. My other car is getting slammed so one out of two isn't bad. I also want to use stock struts for as long as possible.
So far I have mostly cosmetic mods since it is still under factory warranty. I have eyelids, 4500k hid, lamin-x on the fog lights, lamin-x on the third brake light and rear reflectors, led conversion for all the bulbs except the gauges, jdm window visors, rallyarmor mudflaps, painted ms3 wheels, a mazdaspeed accessory short throw shifter, and a trz dogbone rear motor mount.
Next up is twm shifter bushings, lowering springs, an autoexe replica spoiler from ebay, an 09 oem front lip
