hello everyone, my friends car won't start, it's a 2005 mazda3 i believe, when we try to start it, the dashboards lights go wild (flashing-quickly), including the gear selection lights that cycle from park, rev, neutral, 1st & 2nd while cranking, it looks very neat but it just won't fire up, battery is showing 12.6V i didn't measure cranking amps, however, it turns over easily and the headlights and brights are as brights as they should be...

any clues or suggestions?

thanks in advance...

I tried resetting the system last night, disconnected battery (held the brake for 15 seconds), gave the exact same symptom afterwards...

it only freaks out during the actual cranking, in "on" position it seems normal.

This morning my friend was able to start the car, it died twice on the way to the dealership, however, it made it there. Still no verdict from the place as of 3:30pm.

I'll post back whatever happens...

Yes, keep us up to date. Could be anything...something electrical. Maybe gear selector sensor (is there one?? lol)

Could be a fuel delivery problem or the crank sensor.
