Yo I gotta give you guys out there credit who have custom headlamps. I've seen some cars on here that are so nice that I've been inspired to do my own headlamp mods.
I just bought some new headlights off of ebay... and the minute that they arrive, I'll take pics and post my progress. Now heres the twist, I have no idea what I'm doing!!! None what so ever! (boom05) ::dum, dum, dummmmm::
So I'm gonna need any, and everybody's help so I can get through this.
I'll keep you all "posted".

I want to use a set of Chrystler 300c H.I.D.'s and set them in a Protege Headlamp. Only problems are that I, have never done this before and I dont know how to, so I'm gonna kinda wing it and hope for the best. But its only day two of the project and i cant even take apart my headlights cause New York is burried under about a foot of snow. Hopefully it clears up so I can get 'er done!

Why does it matter if there's a foot of snow outside? Stick 'em in the oven and get it on! :D
I'm hoping to do my own retrofit this summer.

Wait a minute... Oven??? Why would i have to put them in the oven?
Before you guys insult me and laugh, keep in mind I've never taken apart a headlamp before so I dont even know how to get beyond just removing it. That's why i posted this thread. I'm gonna use everyone's wealth of knowledge to kinda walk myself through it.
But I dont truly lack in experience, I used to be an ASE certified Mechanic. So I figure if i could at one point take apart an engine, how hard could it be to take apart a light?! I'll post pics 2morrow, if some f the snow clears.

you put them in the oven to heat them up so you can take the lense cover off of the rest of the housing.

Turthfully I wouldn't have this thread up here if I had seen a more thorough step by step thread. So I figure I'll do it and everyone can get a few laughs outta it while I waste a headlamp or two.
P.S. I bought some spare headlamps just to ensure that I'll be able to keep going even if a screw up once or twice.

I appreciate the insite on the other postings cause I'll use them as a guide. But there has got to be a headlights for dummies manual somewhere. The post that "melicha8" put up on How-To HID Projector Headlights, contradicts some other posts I've seen.
I was really lookin' for somethin' slighty different than what he was shooting for. I bought 2 pairs of cheap headlights that I saw on ebay that had a housing similar to "chicoloco's" and I just kinda wanna plug a projector in there. However I am gonna do a lil more research on how the beam projects and reflects on to the road, cause what "melicha8" said makes a lot of sense. I guess this may be a lil more challenging than i thought it would be. I'll have pics up by this afternoon... I'm at work right now.

if you can't follow any of the headlights disassembly guides and use common sense to figure out the rest along the way, don't do it! you want your hand held all the way? that's not going to happen because it's impossible for us to be there with you to help you with that!
so pay someone to do it for you or forget about it before you fuck your shit up!

That's not what I want... and i dont even think that I implied that. But aight. I have been following the guides that I've been given. My comment was that I just dont wanna do what "melicha8" did. I wanna have my own. But thanx for lettin' me know that I wont have a babysitter! LOL
