nice looking car bro........ are those the wheels that you told me were 18x8 with +38mm offset, and you had to roll the fenders to keep them from rubbing?

(2thumbs) sweet car

and DAMN IT..... someone beat me too it, I was looking at my car the other day wondering what it would look like to put the mazdaspeed up where the M is... so it's more "noticeable" lol

Good job, it actually looks good.

yup those are the rims. and that have been on the car for a while now and no rubbing what so ever with 225 tires on a 8" wide rim and +38 offset. I'm pretty sure there is still enough room for 235s

So wait you get no rubbing? Your fenders are rolled though, right? Just making sure I understand everything

I'm trying to figure out if i roll the fenders will i be ok with 1/2 inch wider rim and a -3mm smaller offset than yours? Cause the wheels I pretty much want are 18x8.5 with a +35mm offset, I'm wondering if I can run those wheels with just a fender roll, or would the rear wheel wells have to be pulled a little bit.

How much of a drop have you acheived with your springs?

my fenders are rolled where they are flat against it. you will most likely rub with that setup. the most i would go would be this setup with a 235 tire. i'm sure if i dropped the offset i could go with a wider tire. i'm going to play around with some setups in the summer. I'm going to try to see if i can get a 245 stuff in their...that's the goal anyways.

damn it... I really want these wheels, but seems like i'm gonna have to stick with 8 as the widest... at least unless i can get a high offset like over +45mm in order to run wider... I bet if you found some +50mm wheels you'd be able to slap a 245 on there.

the reason i asked about your fenders and wheel well is I was reading on the mazda6 club and a guy with a regular mazda6 has 18x8 and +38mm ASA wheels and he had to have the wheel well pulled a little so he wouldn't rub.

how about the front? do you rub when you turn or anything of the sort?

Thanks man, your car is clean (2thumbs)

damn, do you know any places i can go to have them mount a 18x8.5 +35 offset to see if it rubs (going to have my fenders and my girls 6s fenders rolled next week, just in case)

friend of mine told me "rent n roll" to see if they would mount one up for me, if they have one in similar size.

there is a guy at mazda 6 club that has 18x9 with a +45 offset his name is WRC2. Thats the sickest mazdaspeed 6 i've ever seen.

WRC2 on the other forum has sold his car early last year. I run 18X8 45 offset Avan RS rims on my speed.

Thanks......... now I know how far I can go with wheels and have the fenders rolled flat without having to pull them

looks like I won't be able to get 18x8.5 +35 offset though.... haha :(

ooops, yeah....... lol........ I was thinking 5.56/.223 I guess I threw that 6 in on accident and didn't even proofread my post. I should be sleeping by now anyway :(

My bad. (lol2) But yeah I loved being able to shoot .308 win ammo. I would like to buy another one when I have that luxury and not saving money for other things. :\

308 is 7.62mm right?

Koenig

308 is 7.62mm right?

Pretty much.......... mine was an Armalite. I'm told though, in some cases, if the gun is chamber SPECIFICALLY for a certain round, there is the possibility it'll missfire or not fit. because I believe the NATO rounds (5.56 7.62) are slightly larger than the civilian .223 and .308. But a lot of guns can shoot both. however a gun just for NATO rounds might not shoot the "civilian" rounds.

[edit]
there we go I found this.

It is a standard cartridge for NATO forces, and for several nations not part of NATO. It is derived from, but not entirely interchangeable with, the .223 Remington cartridge. This is due to, among other things, the greater gas pressure of the 5.56 mm military round.

This is the same for the 7.62mm, in many guns they will work interchangably, but in some cases they won't. I've never really fired 7.62 in my ar-10 so I can't tell you first hand if it works or not. I've always only bought .308

AWDTerror
03-14-2008, 05:55 AM
7.62 and the .308 are identical

the .223 and 5.56 are not

you can fire .223 from a 5.56 chamber but not the other way around

Yeah I never noticed that cause I never shot 7.62, and then I found this

While similar in appearance, the military 7.62x51 NATO cartridge is not identical to the commercial .308 Winchester, though the two are safely interchangeable.

Some confuse the round with the 7.62x39mm intermediate cartridge used in the AK-47 and other weapons, because both may be referred to simply as "7.62". They are not interchangeable
