so my rear is making some pretty loud noise when i hit some pot holes. I have a feeling it's my endlinks. The shocks are good and everything else seems fine.

are endlinks usually a problem on the P5's?

what do they go for? should i get OEM or does Napa and Autozone sell them cheaper and just as good?

Thanks
Joey

Napa: http://www.napaonline.com/MasterPages/NOLMaster.aspx?PageId=470&LineCode=NCP&PartNumber=2651693&Description=Sway+Bar+Repair+Kit+-+Rear+Suspension

Autozone is pretty much the same thing... around the same price.

Then pending on sway bar / suspension mods and knowledge you can also go for these: http://siteground207.com/~protegeg/product_info.php?cPath=281_21_31_60&products_id=320

All and all there all good

STOP.

First, for the people with problems with clunk or thud, is your car lowered? Do you have an aftermarket swaybar? Answer these first.

I got a clunk-lunklunk-clunk sound at the front when i run over bumps, not the big ones but mostly on a row of little bumps it makes the sound.

Think it's a sway bar bushing..my endlinks were changed last summer (front ones)

Edit: Everything is STOCK :)

Do a thread search for "Clunk" ; you'll be amazed the amount of information and scenario's you'll find on this subject.

If that doesn't work follow Magus instruction and post further details here.

Well I would check to see if the sway bar is hitting the control arm first. You can take off one wheel and see if there is any rub markers on the bar. If not (Good), next I would check to see how the struts are doing. There is a possiblity that the struts are worn out and simply can not absorb the bump and your hitting your bump stops. Put the wheel back on, and push down on that corner of the car. Notice how many times it bounces. If it bounces then settles, your struts are fine. If it's cold, you should try this after you driven the car enough to warm it up. If it bounces several times before coming to a settled position, you need new struts. If they check out (Good), then it probably the front sway bar bushings. Though honestly at that point, it could be the bearing. I personally would take it to a shop at this point (does not have to be Mazda) and have the suspension looked at. There is the possibility that parts are worn, or have been damaged. I am kinda of wondering if it's really the bushing as I have 120,000+ (plus 3 auto crossing events) under my car, and it does not have front clunking. I would also point out that the only clunk I get in the front is when the car is cold (it's cold outside) and I hit a speed bump first thing. I hope this helps a bit.

MonkeyBone-why was your sway bar endlinks changed?

bpoche-have you had this problem since you changed your rims?

Also understand that if this is happening when you first go anywhere and it's cold, then it is normal. With the colder temperatures the fluid in the struts are not warmed up yet, and can not do their job right just yet.

Either I would jack up the car and look at it, or I would take it to a garage. It sounds like something broke or is loose and hitting something. It could be something important, so I would not let this go for a long time. It could end up being something fairly cheap.

MonkeyBone- If you changed your endlinks, that leads me to believe something else is loose or broken causing extra stress on the endlink. Could be the bushing is toast or the bracket holding the bar is broken.

On a separate note, I am slowly working on a endlink solution. The AWR appears to be too short, rusts, and makes noise. Once I figure out the right parts to order, I would share with the forum. This is first being designed for the rear links. I would also point out that I have a 22mm Progressive Rear sway bar. It uses the stock links, but I absolutely refuse to put OEM back on after I had to cut them off :'( I mean OEM will work with progressive, but what if I need adjustment because of lowering? What about a better stress handling because of a stronger link?

Crazy D, no problem, I help when I can.

Endlinks were changed because the noise they made was louder than someone smashing a hammer on solid steel.
Thats why they were changed :P

The knuckles were all dusty and stuff when the guy at the shop took them out.

So the solution of my problem is, i think, sway bar bushing, just like my dad's 1999 toyota camry V6 :P Clunks as hell!

Ok, that definitely signals something to do with the sway bar. It's either the bushing and/or bracket for the sway bar are messed up.

That would explain why your endlinks where messed up! Honestly, you might have to replace them again once you fix the sway bar.
