Okay so my buddy just sold is impreza and has a crap ton o' cash to spend and he is looking for his dream car a nissan silvia. He, myself and others are all into cars and have motorcycles, and my buddy thats getting a silvia and i decided to start a tuner club/group called..
PROJECT DSR
which stands for drift, stunt, race. Obviously all of us are into these things, so those three came natural. As of right now there are 5 of us and we are getting graphics and shirts made. Going along with this we are entering into HIN competitions and other misc comps/shows/races.
i believe that that is all for now....whew! that was a lot of typing

Yeah, thanks for the mention - it's nice to be recognized for knowing stuff from time to time. If I could suggest one thing though I would go with a larger exhaust than the Magnaflow or Greddy. If you want to stay small and/or simple I'd go with the Corksport otherwise go with something custom, preferrably 2.5". I dyno'd shortly after turbocharging the wagon with a MAM catted midpipe and Magnaflow catback and put down 188 whp/192 wtq and I think that was optimistic (put down 183 whp/186 wtq with Corksport + other extras). With your goal of 200+ whp you're going to need a larger exhaust and more boost.

Good luck with the build! Which eyelids do you have/are you getting?

damn on the more boost thing magnum, im only going to 8 max so well have to see what i wanna do about that lack of a couple extra ponies...;) Also about the exhaust, i already have cs with a high-flow cat welded in and its DEFINATLY seen better days, i can barely keep the pipes together and theres rust all over the place, plus its louder than a mofo, but the exhaust ideas will have to be finalized once i have the turbo kit already on, hopefully the turbo will quite it down enough for me to tolerate/the exhaust will hold up untill i can pay for a full custom or another cs if it sounds quite enough with the turbo.
as for the eyelids, they look like this except not carbon fiber and will be painted to match my body

hope you wont get the sp2, sound like crap on msp's.. why not custom make the pipings and find a nice muffler
speed5hornet
02-20-2008, 12:57 AM
haha another vote for full custom....that gives me an idea, i should make a thread with a poll on which exhaust i should go with. Something like
1) cs
2) magnaflow
3) greddy
4) an exhaust designed for msp and cut to fit
5) full custom

Go full custom underaxle with an RSR GT muffler. Sounds great and looks pimp, I promise..lol There is a soundclip from my setup on here somewhere..

Oh I know what they look like, but I was wondering where you are going to get them from? And/or what brand? My GF got me a set and they don't fit too great.

I was told we couldn't do the under-axle thing on the P5s  I don't think I've seen anyone do it either. I've been contemplating this for a while though for when I go up to a 3"

i bought the eyelids here on the forums, as for the exhaust. I still have no idea, the cs is gonna be on for awhile a.k.a untill i figure out if i wanna go custom or....?

damn man...good luck! thats awesome...For ome reason a 188 WHP doesnt seem like that much...can you feel a huge difference magnum? i guessed id have to ride in it or drive it to get the effect

anyone tired this exhaust, specifically anyone with a turbo charged vehicle like p5 or msp?
JIC Magic SUS DE Type 1 Exhaust, i was reading about it on pg's website and they say you can choose btw 60mm or 73.33mm(i cant remember exact number) and you can have them put in a resonator. This sounds pretty good to me! but dang it isnt cheap!

Yeah 188 whp (or 183 whp depending on which graph I'm looking at - the latter seems more accurate) doesn't really seem like a lot, and it really isn't but it's a huge step up from the stock 95 whp and where I was before (probably ~100 whp). With the turbo the powerband isn't as linear as with N/A so it's a different kind of rush. Out of boost and below 3000 RPM my car feels just like it did before but downshift and punch it and the turbo lets you know it's there. There's definitely a big difference there and now I'm probably over 200 whp with the 626 IM and tuned at 10 psi. There might be a dyno day around here soon so I might just know here shortly. The only probably is you get used to the power so you keep having to go bigger and bigger...

okay, seriously here, without going full custom exhaust....does anyone have insight on a turbo exhaust for the p5? The only thing that can save me in this decision, is if the cs that i have gets quiet enough once the turbo goes on to handle on the highway. If not(which i think is likely) i need some help. It has to br 2.5 so that rules out racing beat/magnaflow. Megan is 2.5 and so is greddy but.....jezz idk!!!

Just bought it used off these forums about a week or two ago. Still haven't installed it. Hoping to get it in either tomorrow (if I'm lucky enough to have work cancelled due to weather), or maybe Sunday. I'll let you know how it goes. I'm not turbo'ed though (broke ass college student here). Only mod is an MP3 ECU. I'll try and get a video clip up too.

IIRC the Megan isn't really 2.5" and neither is the Greddy - I thought I remember someone doing a comparison on here a while back. I'm always skeptical when I read 2.5" exhaust for the P5 because despite how stupid manufacturers can be, most know better than to put a 2.5" exhaust on a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine. AFAIK, the Corksport is the only exhaust truly bigger than 2.25" and even so, that's still not by much. I wish I could see a comparison between the Corksport and the Megan and Greddy just to verify my claims though. Oh yeah, one other thing, the Megan is LOUD!

did u get the larger diameter and did you get the resonator on there? That would be AWESOME if you could take a video!!!

Look up JOMO, he had a 3" underaxle exhaust when he had a turbo P5. Looked great , I'll see if I can find a picture to reference.

I always though he had one of those flat black vibrant mufflers, or was the CWill? Damn, the old P5 heavy hitters aren't around anymore :(

Yup, they had essentially the same exhaust. Cwill has an evo8 now along with the P5 that isn't running though. I'm the only one of us that is still rockin a mazda..there must be something wrong with me .... lol
Back to the thread on topic, i think that the JIC exhaust is the best option but damn is it expensive. My friend had the a custom 2.5" exhaust with a megan muffler and it sounded great

I am planning on running the Megan ...for at least the time being.
I can measure it if you want..Its just sitting in the Basement.
I can verify it's actual measured inner diameter.
i'm running a ghl j/s custom 3' over axle mated with a jic titanium can. the whole set up cost about a grand. sounds descent. the piping ant the prettiest thing but it does the job. thinking of doing all aluminum to save some weight once the car gets flushed out some more.

(rockon)FINALLY! someone who actually knows how to take an exhaust video! God i hate how everyone just puts the camera down on the ground about 4ft away from the muffler and just hit the gas a little bit, WHAT THE HELL IS THAT! So thank you so much for that wonderfull video, so i can actually hear it in a "normal" driving situation.
(rant over)
that sounded good, man reallllly good cause im getting a pg or sls midpipe w/hi-flow cat so it will sound a little deeper and louder, but the turbo will quite it down a little too. That setup could work!
justanothermp5
02-23-2008, 11:53 PM
yea i have a video like that if u want it lol
but i ordered a sls midpipe, catless, about a week or a week and a half ago and thanks to ups sucking big man balls, they managed to damage the package to where they didnt even ship it to my house, they shipped it to a ups location and they said they didnt want it thats how tore up the package was
so im supposed to be getting a replacement in about another week i guess lol
but all in all its work the $120 bucks
speed5hornet
02-24-2008, 12:02 AM
nice, yeah ups shipped one box of six total to the wrong hub....one on the other side of the u.s so my last box the one that actually had the turbo/mani in it too! took about 2 extra weeks to come.
DUDE, you would be my hero if you made another video of your exhaust once you put on that sls midpipe!

02-24-2008, 12:04 AM
lol i will, believe me, ill post it all over the forum cuz its gonna sound incredible
if i ever get it tho, i just checked the tracking number and it says that the midpipe arrived at sls performance again so they should be shipping a new one soon
but there in utah, and im in north carolina lol

haha niceee,
okay more build update stuff:
ms pedals are on, these were probably the hardest thing i installed so far, even harder than the header(that just took longer) These things install by stretching rubber grommets over the square metal pedals...and they dont wanna fit! i had to cut slits on 3/4 corners just to get them on.
msp shifter/boot is on, relatively easy nothing bad
awr front motor mount is being installed next week
i may be able to get a full quart of HZ yellow paint for about 30-40 dollars, AND i get to use a real heated paint shop! One of my co-workers has turned his barn into a full paintshop so hes gonna try to hook me up on the paint(if his supplier has mazda colors) but if not, i still get him to paint my new bumper/lip/eyelids for free, in a heated environment so i get that down sooner that expected; WHICH means i can build the engine a little sooner;)
on a sad note, my xbox360 just crapped out on me. No red ring or anything, the disc drive broke. It wont stay shut and the whole thing makes a crappy rattling noise so something prolly broke inside, bad thing is that costs 95 dollars:(

so i have an accuboost manual boost controller, im thinking i should install that and just set that at 8 psi so the ATP wga doesnt spike or hold and 9-10 psi like ive seen/heard.
magnumP5
02-27-2008, 09:22 AM
You cannot use a boost controller to lower boost. If the actuator wants you to see 8-9 psi (mine didn't, holds at 7 psi all day) that's the lowest you'll be able to see.

ok so i kno u have a new thread but my prediction was right
got the midpipe today and i put it on directly after school, shits tight
didnt come with an o2 bung and the bolts i needed but the guy at the hobby shop was nice and gave me some
that junk bubbles like crazy at a light, and i feel a little performance gain but not much
